"Great location near Aso-Kuju National Park and Kurokawa Onsen. We drove a car and were ablw to access the parking lot with no issues. It's also conveniently beside the Aso station. Staff were incredibly friendly. The communal kitchen was always stocked and clean. Washers and dryers are available to use, but require cashless payment."

"We want to experience a ryokan stay in Japan and decided to choose this property for a night. Our checkin was straightforward. The room was a little dated but has good size with a living area. The bathroom was very small but understandable with this style of property. We enjoyed the use of the onsen which was quite nice. We were disappointed with the breakfast and dinner which were included. It was our tenth day in Japan and we really enjoyed our every meal except for the breakfast and dinner served here which we felt were substandard especially for the amount we paid for the room. Meals at other hotels that we stayed prior to were much better. After the disappointment with breakfast, we walked over to Lawson the convenient store located next to the hotel and bought sushi roll and a croquette which was more gratifying. If food is not what you’re looking forward to, then this property is ok. There were other properties which received very good reviews but were fully booked so we really had no choice, "

"There are many different choices of onsens in the ryokan. The staff are excellent as well, their english proficiency is one of the best I’ve seen as well. Although there were some incidents at the start when we check in, the staffs are very efficient at dealing with it. Overall I’ll recommend anyone who visits Kurokawa onsen to give this ryokan a try"

"Everything about Nihon No Ashitaba was so incredibly beautiful, serene, and thoughtful. They offer a free shuttle everyday to Yufuin station where you can walk, shop, eat, and enjoy Yufuin. We were greeted promptly after riding the Yufuin No Mori from Hakata Station.They have multiple private onsens and a large open air hot spring you can reserve a time everyday if you wanted. Their breakfast and dinner is absolutely amazing and gives you a truly genuine Japanese food experience. The villas/homes on the property are tradition style and are very spacious and clean. The landscape of the property is quiet and offers you a peaceful onsen experience. The best part about Nihon No Ashitaba is the impeccable service and generosity of their staff. Yuji in particular, really cared for us and worked hard to make our stay the best experience ever! Thank you so much for the wonderful time in Yufuin!"
