Powder Hut Ohakune - cosy wee cottage in central Ohakune

PLEASE NOTE - sheets and towels are NOT provided as part of this rental - please bring your own sheets and towels.

Any issues or problems must be reported immediately to the owner - contact number is on the board in the house.

The Powder Hut is a perfect base near Mt Ruapehu. Ideal for couples and small families but can sleep 6 people.

Small but cosy and comfortable bach, in peaceful but central location (between Ohakune township and the Junction).

Guests are to clean the property before leaving. If the property is not left in a satisfactory condition for the next guests, appropriate cleaning charges will apply and be deducted from the cleaning/damage facility. Cleaning charge - $80.00 min.
The property is inspected after each visit.

Special conditions:
2+ night bookings required. Contact owner re 1 night bookings which incur a $30 surcharge.
Smoking allowed outside the property only.

The chalet is very well appointed and in good condition. I liked the cosiness but with all the conveniences and appliances you might need. What I didn't like was the reliance on previous guests to make the place clean and ready for the next guests, with no obvious thorough check in between. In particular, the bed wasn't made up and it was very difficult to find the right sheets for the bed. Also, the instructions were unclear about how the laundry is dealt with between guests, eg is it acceptable to do the washing in the machine and leave it there when you leave (probably not), so what do you do with it?

This well-equiped property is an ideal base for exploring Ohakune and the Tongariro National Park and is a firm favourite with our family. Hope to return on our next road trip to the North Island.

We love the place. It has everything you need and may want during your stay.

Place was nice and tidy and clean. Smaller than what was depicted in the photos. What was a let down was we had to make our own beds, sheets and pillow cases were in a drawer we had to go looking through. Also, there was no oil or baking paper. Overall it was a nice place to stay
