Disliked: Staff & service
This place was fine. The added up charge of $25 a day that comes at check in may make this hotel as if not more expensive than other options, providing you want a room to yourself (which I do).
Overall it was an ok stay, hence the 3 stars. That means nothing exceptional, but nothing too damning.
Positives were:
- Early Check in, although in January in NYC no one was really there, so that was more than expected.
Coffee in the morning was nice.
Late checkout was also super helpful.
For the regular stuff, the room was fine. No curtain between the shower and the toilet was weird. Also it was nice they had umbrellas for borrowing, except they're covered in advertisements. I would rather have nothing, tbh.
My biggest complaint, besides the hidden fee, was that at night they have a guy at the door wanting to check keys, which is basically criminalizing me as a patron of the establishment. I am dress nicely, and tired. I don't want to talk to anyone, or be accosted by the door person, who is just sitting there on their phone.
Might stay again, but it should really be cheaper. If the Beacon Hotel, which is normally $600, is ~150-200 a night, this hotel should be 50-75 max.
