"The hotel is on the edge of the city center and only 2 blocks from the ocean. You would have to walk about 20 minutes for a small beach or drive 20 for a nicer beach. I rented a car and drove all over the island. Maria at the front desk was very helpful. Parking is hit or miss aw far as street parking. "Very beautiful views atop a mountain overlooking the Mediterranean. The road up is a challenge, for sure. Probably unlike anything else you have driven, but very doable with a little patience. The size of the place it a little tight for a family of 4, but you can make it work. The pool and patio are lovely and the hosts are very kind. "

"The house is located higher above a smaller local beach (which never got busy) and afforded great views over the area. Whilst the house is lovely, the outdoor space really sets the accommodation apart. There are a number of different veranda’s and seating areas which allow the outdoors to be utilised throughout the day. We loved it. We explored the East of the island, and the house location proved to work really well for that. We would not hesitate to return. Many thanks."

"The apartment was absolutely perfect for our stay. It was approx 10 min walk to the Old City, had parking and the apartment had everything necessary to make our stay a fabulous experience. Michalis responded very quickly via email and the attention to detail in the apartment was awesome. Totally recommend a stay here and will definitely stay again, if we revisit Rethymno."

"This was a great property with great owners. I’d say it’s probably worth spending a little but extra to make sure you have the view of valley and mountains, we had a side view but we’d know next time. Everything is very hog spec. And the family were SUPER helpful. Really comfortable bed and lovely sofa and out door furniture. Absolutely would recommend. Just half an hour to the beaches and lots of good places to eat and places to visit "

"We had a wonderful stay at the Rafkos mansion. Stelios the owner took us wherever we needed to go and we had delicious meals at one of the local restaurants. It would be wise to have a car because it’s in a village about 30mins. from Heraklion. Stelios is the definition of Greek hospitality! "

"We enjoyed our stay here - the staff answered messages quickly, and the room although basic had everything needed for a few nights stay including a small well equipped kitchen area (kettle, coffee machine, stove hob). Bathroom was small but perfectly useable. A bit more information about the area would be useful but that's what the internet is for. Check in was via a coded key pick up. The location is about 15 minutes walk from main areas of the town. "

"We arrived at the villa and were met by Stratos and his wife who were both very welcoming. The villa was stunning and suited our large group. The wrap around terrace at the top of the villa with table, chairs and loungers was the perfect place to eat and watch the sunset. The pool itself was large with loungers and in the evening lit by pretty lights. The village Anmatos was small with a restaurant and cafe. No shop so a car is needed. "Everything is amazing in the hotel it is very suitable for families there is good service and great food, everywhere you go in the hotel the staff are very understanding and kind.
