Skaneateles Lakefront home on 380' of secluded forested frontage

Enjoy the ambiance of the Adirondacks yet the sophistication of fine dining, Broadway-quality musicals, and a world-class music festival in one of the most quaint villages in the Fingerlakes. Sit on the front deck among the hemlocks and you may see our resident eagles, or enjoy the afternoon sun on the back patio overlooking your own private waterfall in our ravine! Hike or drive up to the nearby 90-foot-tall Carpenter's waterfall with a new viewing platform and stairs to the water below, along with the path hike down to the lake. Explore with one of our 4 kayaks, or dock your boat on our mooring (May 31-Oct 1) and motor up to town to dock at the town's pier where you can shop and enjoy local eateries. Or stay home and catch some bass off the dock! We are a 20-minute drive from downtown Skaneateles. If it's raining, indulge in a massage and yoga class at Mirbeau Spa in town, or just veg in our covered open-air hot tub and open porch overlooking the lake. Nearby are famous Fingerlakes Wineries, several golf courses, public tennis, and pickleball courts, and Sunday polo matches. In August enjoy the renowned Skaneateles Festival featuring 3 nights weekly of classical music. If you prefer musicals, the Merry-Go-Round Theater hosts Broadway-class shows. Rent a party boat to tool around our beautiful lake with mansions on the north and more flora/fauna to the south. We have plenty of parking. A bonus common area with 4 queen beds, separated by half-walls and curtains, is available for parties needing mostly adult accommodations for an extra weekly charge of $300. Please speak with manager.

The lake is not swim-ready until mid-June unless you are a very hardy soul! Prior to then, we just love sunning on the dock and boating. Fall is one of the most beautiful and peaceful seasons to enjoy this private retreat. If there is snow in late fall/early spring (rare but possible!), we will happily refund your deposit as we cannot guarantee access as the road is not plowed. We take out the dock extension/floating dock/mooring sometime before late September; please let us know if you are bringing a boat. Boat rentals are available at Skaneateles Marina ((315) 685-5095 or Skaneateles Boat Rental (315-395-4210).

Serenity at the Lake
Annual Girls Weekend Away. The place was immaculate when we arrived. Brian, the property manager, was great giving detailed directions to the location. You would never have known there were 14 of us in the house because of the overall layout. It was perfect for a few short-day trips to surrounding towns and hiking trails. We all loved the place and will return.

We really loved the house. It was well appointed. The living room and beds are very comfortable. Everyone loved the beds. We enjoyed the outdoor space and hot tub. We would have used the kayaks if we were not so busy that weekend. The water pump could use an upgrade and the road in can be a little intimidating, especially at night. Overall however, we would stay here again. The privacy and the views are tremendous. I would love to stay here in the summer. Just bring all your food for the week, because once you get there you just don't want to leave.

Wonderful Family Vacation
My family stayed in this lovely home and enjoyed it tremendously. We were 6 adults and 5 children and the house was big enough for all of us to feel comfortable. The kitchen was amazing with room for several cooks at a time. There was enough room throughout the house so that everyone had a spot to retreat to. The main attraction for both children and adults was the beautiful dock. Both children and adults enjoyed using the kayaks and inner tubes. I would love to return to this house and highly recommend it.

We have stayed here before but this was our first time visiting in the summer. The location is absolutely beautiful, and we loved being able to use the kayaks and intertubes and really enjoy the lake. The property manager was very attentive and helpful. We would definitely come back again.

The surrounding property and home is beautiful. It was so lovely to relax in the mornings soaking in the view and in the evenings as well. The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms well stocked - we were five in our party. As mentioned in previous reviews the road can be a little tricky at night as it is narrow and winding - just take your time. It is about a 30 minute drive to the town of Skaneateles but we thought the drive was scenic. Would absolutely recommend and return to this property.

Beautiful lake views from inside the generous and lovely main living area to the outside 2 decks , including the hot tub. Owner terrific, helpful and super responsive to work with! Very private and peaceful with several eagle sightings and the cacades of the water in a ravine lulls you to sleep. Lots of sleeping spaces, a dream kitchen area, a cozy woodburning fireplace and beach firepit area! A boathouse full of equipment for water fun as well and a stone’s throw from beautiful Carpenter’s Falls! Our second stay at this wonderful property!

Gorgeous home and views from nearly every room
From the moment we walked in, we were wowed by the home and the view. It was a great fit for the 9 adults in our group but would also be fantastic for a few families with kids of any ages. We were impressed by every aspect of the house and it's lakefront location. We also enjoyed the firepit that was lakeside a few of the nights we were there. We would deifinitely book this again!

Such a beautiful home for our college friends reunion weekend! Pictures do not do it justice. Everything is updated and perfectly decorated. Great outdoor hang out areas with views of the lake! Easy access to the water and so much equipment to use. Fit 9 adults and 4 small children nicely- play area in basement was great! We especially enjoyed the open concept kitchen/living area. Easy drive to downtown with many local attractions- Anyelas winery and Mirbeau spa (highly recommend!). Would love to stay again.

Just what we needed!
We had a wonderful time at this peaceful, picturesque, and comfortable property. The views "wow" you and a feeling of tranquility carries from the Lake all the way through the house. I am so happy we selected this property for our weekend rest and relaxation getaway with friends. This home is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The views are spectacular.The amenities are generous and were appreciated since there are no shops nearby. We were a group of eight women celebrating our 70th birthdays. The layout of the home allowed us to easily gather together yet have our own separate bedroom space. The walk down the steps to the lake was an exercise that we could manage. We even took two kayaks out for a paddle. Our only problem was the long drive down a washed out dirt road with a switchback to the house. We were so intimidated by the drive that we planned our day so we would only go up the road once and return to the house before dark. Although AWD wasn’t required, it certainly helped us.

Absolutely stunning location with addicting views. The house is as pictured and exceeded expectations. We had 14 people for our family reunion ages 7-83. The stairs to the water were challenging for the oldest couple with mobility issues but they still made it up and down to the lake at least once each day. There are railings and the stairs are wide so that helped a lot. There was plenty of room for us all to spread out. Furniture was all excellent quality and comfortable. Every room has plenty of storage including closets and laundry baskets. Kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked. Every appliance works perfectly. Hot tub was amazing. There are enough (quality) beach towels and bath towels for all guests. The driveway is a bit challenging with trailers and a boat. We have a 4x4 vehicle and are comfortable reversing a trailer so we were fine. Just be aware it is a steep gravel driveway with a few tight turns. Probably the best rental we have ever stayed in! Would love to come back.

loved the peaceful views of the lake from two spacious decks! stunning nature setting, with resident bald eagles, to a ravine with soothing water sounds. many amenities, from hot tub with lake views, a boathouse with kayaks, tubes for floating , beach chairs, comfy lounge chairs on the dock, to the lakeside firepit. Inside there are plenty of sleeping quarters and bathrooms for a large group. Host was fabulous with communication and responsiveness as well! provided all that you need for a wonderful vacation! and Carpenter’s Falls is so close and easy to get to, right up the road from the cottage-nice trail options and a stunning waterfall!! Have already booked our next stay!!!

Peaceful summer getaway
We had a wonderful week on Skaneateles Lake in spite of early June rain. The home was comfortable with plenty of comfy spots to hide away with a book. The kitchen was well outfitted for cooking all our meals, and we enjoyed lots of time on the two decks and the dock. We brought wetsuits for our kids, and they were able to swim and paddleboard even in early June before the water had warmed up. The property was beautiful and we felt like we were really away from everything. Driving into town was a short, easy drive for little shops and lunch out. Our kids had a blast climbing the waterfall, and we didn't even get close to exploring the whole property. I highly recommend the trail at Carpenter Falls. It's a great moderate rim trail along the river, starting high at the falls and going down to the lake. My 7 & 10 year old accomplished it without much complaining. I highly recommend this property for a vacation in the woods trip!

We stayed for a week in July and it could not have been better. We had 5 children and 6 adults and there was plenty of room. The home was beautiful and roomy and the location was ideal. We spent hours in the kayaks provided, fished for hours and roamed around in the downtown area and even attended a concert! the owners were fantastic. They were more than there for us throughout the week! You won't be sorry renting this gorgeous home!

The house was outstanding, unfortunately we mis read the location and would have preferred to be closer to Skaneatelas village. Maribeth, our Host was fantastic, and stocked the house with paper products, spices and some other goodies. Best rental I have ever had!
