"Despite some unseasonal cold and wet weather and suffering from colds caught on the ferry from GB we really enjoyed our 2 weeks at L’Abeille Bleue. What made it so great was the warmth of our hosts Didier and Patricia, a most welcoming and generous couple. Didier was so concerned that we understood how the heating system worked (we really needed it!) that he came in twice to check that we understood it. And we also benefitted greatly from gifts of fruit (peaches, apples, figs) and vegetables...

"We enjoy visiting this area in the late part of autumn. The rain or drizzle or cool days are offset by a wonderful wood-burning fireplace at night. You will enjoy the hospitality of your hosts as you cuddle inside a very beautiful home. We will return again."

Juste un petit problème de trouver le bon chemin en arrivant à la tombée du jour, car l’adresse n’est pas reconnue par le gps. Il n’y a pas trop de réseau, mais ça nous n’a pas beaucoup dérangé. "A lovely holiday. The gite has a beautiful garden to sit in and is equipped to a very good standard.A warm welcome from René and Nicole on our arrival. We came to see the Châteaux of the Loire and there were many located very close to the gite. We didn't realise from the description that the bathroom was on a different floor to the bedrooms. This wasn't a problem for us, but could have been for others."

"Have just returned from a truly memorable stay as a B & B guest. The Estate and Pool are beautiful - total tranquility ! Mark & Lisa are amazing Hosts - nothing is too much trouble and always on hand to give advice and help. The B&B Room is really homely and has everything needed. "Nothing like the pictures when we booked. Very shabby accommodation. One indoor very crowded pool and No facilities on site, you have to go int Saumur which is a lovely city. You have to pay extra for bedding . Beds uncomfortable and furniture all very old. Definitely not worth the money. "

A good choice

"Our third stay here. A very good, modern, stylish room and excellent breakfast. Staff are so helpful. Hotel has private secure parking at rear. Hotel is central so handy for walking round Saumur. Close to plenty of restaurants/ bistros so great choice. "

"This place is impeccable. In spite of it being in an historic building it has been lovingly maintained. Our triple room had an enormous bedroom with twin sinks. The beds were in separate rooms and there were original paintings on the walls. Breakfast was very good. Stay there if you’re in the area."

Convenient and welcoming

"Hotel Ibis is convenient for those travelling to Saumur by train-- property is literally right across street from station. Friendly service ( I can speak a bit of French; they could speak some English so all good for check-in, etc! Also.one staffer who was fully bilingual.). Good breakfast in pleasant dining area. Also a cozy bar and in nice weather a courtyard. There is a v.good Italian restaurant next door, and cafe 2 blocks away. You will want to go into Saumur Centre-- a 15 minute walk over 2 bridges. Lots to explore and many eating choices there. "
