Staying in the Sassi, the old cave houses, is something you really should do to enjoy the full experience. I stayed at San Giorgio Hotel, and it was exactly what I hoped for. It was a special experience, something I will always remember. I really recommend it to anyone who wants to try this kind of stay. "We loved our spa cave room at Thymus. It had a pool and a Turkish steam bath. The room accommodated four easily and was very clean and well appointed. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was excellent. We would stay again and highly recommend to anyone. Matera is a unique place and this is a one of a kind, top tier property. "
