Saratoga Springs: 17 miles away

The most historic surrounding city - Walt Disney World even made a Saratoga Springs themed area in their resort!

Saratoga Springs is a city in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 26,586 at the 2010 census.[5] The name reflects the presence of mineral springs in the area, which has made Saratoga a popular resort destination for over 200 years. It is home to the Saratoga Race Course, a thoroughbred horse racing track, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center,] a music and dance venue.

The Battle of Saratoga, the turning point of the Revolutionary War, did not take place in Saratoga Springs. Rather, the battlefield is 15 miles (24 km) to the southeast in the Town of Stillwater. A museum dedicated to the two battles sits on the former battlefields. The British encampment before the surrender at Saratoga took place 10 miles (16 km) east of the city, in Schuylerville, where several historical markers delineate points of interest. The surrender of the sword of battle took place where Fort Saratoga had been, south of Schuylerville. You can walk the battlefields and cemetery in Stillwater.

Arts and Entertainment

Superhorse, one of 34 fiberglass horses on display around downtown Saratoga Springs in the 2007 Horses, Saratoga Style exhibit of public art
The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (known by its acronym "SPAC") is a covered outdoor amphitheater located on the grounds of the Saratoga Spa State Park, with a capacity of 5,000 in reserved seating and 20,000+ on its general admission lawn area. SPAC is the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York City Ballet, and has hosted a weekend-long jazz festival since 1978. Since 2006, the Saratoga Native American Festival has been held on SPAC grounds each fall.[22] SPAC is a stop for touring national recording artists: over 20 popular bands grace the stage every summer. Steps away on State Park grounds, the Spa Little Theater hosts the "Home Made Theater" as well as Opera Saratoga (formerly known as the Lake George Opera) during the summer. Since 2001, The Saratoga Shakespeare Company has presented professional summer productions of Shakespeare in historic Congress Park.
Museums in the area include the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and the Saratoga Automobile Museum. There are more than 20 golf courses in the area. The city is notable for its vibrant night life. Caffè Lena was one of the first venues in the Eastern US at which Bob Dylan performed in 1961. Arlo Guthrie played at Caffè Lena early in his career and has returned for occasional benefit concerts, and the singer Don McLean was a frequent performer there early in his career. (Contrary to a popular legend, McLean has stated that his song "American Pie" was not composed at a table in the Tin & Lint, a bar on Caroline Street.) Numerous other establishments are located on Broadway, Caroline Street (the Hamilton district), and the redeveloped Putnam Street.
Caroline Street at Broadway has been the center of Saratoga nightlife for decades for college students, horse racing season visitors, tourists and locals. Recently, Beekman Street (four blocks West of Broadway), once the center of a working-class, primarily ethnic minority residential neighborhood for those who worked in the service jobs of the tourism economy, has become an art district, housing four galleries, a restaurant, a pub and teahouse, and a bistro. Artists live and work in co-ops and arrange social events.
Saratoga Springs is home to Yaddo, a 400-acre (1.62 km2; 0.63 sq mi) artists' community, founded by Wall Street financier Spencer Trask and his wife, author Katrina Trask. Since its inception in 1900, Yaddo has hosted 68 authors who later won the Pulitzer Prize and one Nobel Prize winner, Saul Bellow. Leonard Bernstein, Truman Capote, Aaron Copland, Sylvia Plath, and David Sedaris have all been artists-in-residence.] The Yaddo grounds are adjacent to the backstretch of the Saratoga Race Course.

Fall Family Reunion
Beautiful home and surrounding property located on the bank of very pretty section of the Hudson River. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the home at the appropriate time, it had not been cleaned. Beds were messy and obviously had been slept in and towels were piled up in each bathroom. The property manager did send over a cleaning person within a hour and she put out clean towels and put fresh linens on the beds. However, the home was certainly not cleaned to previous VRBO rental experiences. The property manager did not respond to my concerns and never contacted me after I messaged him. The kitchen was not very well equipped and refrigerator and freezer were dirty. Great property - bad management.

Beautiful Home on the Hudson
This home had plenty of room and creature comforts to accommodate our family. Spacious rooms and a well equipped kitchen made our stay quite comfortable. The property was private and provided scenic views and a lovely fire pit. Town was close enough for picking up food a drinks. Saratoga Springs was an easy ride for dinner and shopping. Overall, it was a great experience.

Peaceful piece of property
We had a party of 7 adults (there for the Saratoga races). There was plenty of space to gather - around the fire pit and in the living room / kitchen area. The kitchen was spacious enough to cook, however, there was not a pot large enough to cook pasta. In addition, even though the house accommodated nine people, there were only a few wine glasses, no pitchers, no shot glasses, and not enough utensils. There were no pasta bowls or a bowl large enough to make a salad. There was a nice view of the river from the fire pit and plenty of wood to make a fire. There were four bedrooms upstairs, two full bathrooms upstairs and a half bath downstairs. However, there were no towel bars to hang towels on. It's a really nice house and we would definitely stay there again.

Overall we were happy with our stay. I did have to reach out to get the code to open the lockbox. The kitchen could have been better stocked. We had 6 people and there were just enough knives and forks, so we had to keep doing dishes. There were no pitchers or serving dishes which was disappointing when we went to serve dinner. Also upstairs bath could have clothes hooks. House was very pretty. Fire pit was great, but some trash laying around the yard. Couple cans, a broken wicker loveseat. As I said though our stay was very nice. Eagles nest on adjacent property was awesome!

We loved this house!!
This was one of the best VRBOs we have ever rented! The house was clean, spacious, well furnished, well equipped with comfy beds. The grounds were spectacular, like staying in a park with a beautiful view of the water. Wished we had more time to kayak. Our favorite part was sitting outside around the fire pit in the evening. Never even turned on a TV, but there were plenty of them. Hosts were super friendly and accommodating.

Hidden Gem on the Hudson
My family and I stayed at Vincent's house for four nights and loved every minute of it. The house was very clean and the house was spacious and just as pictured! Everyone found their beds to be comfortable which was a plus. We loved gathering at the spacious open kitchen (which came stocked with essentials and some treats) and having family dinners in the separate dining room. The only thing travelers should note is that the beds in some of the rooms are directly above the heating vent/opening, which made for an uncomfortable first night's sleep. However, we were able to solve the issue by moving the beds where possible. We forgot there were neighboring houses closeby since the house is neatly tucked away at the end of the driveway and right on the Hudson. We can't wait to come back for the summer so we can enjoy water activities on the river!

Beautiful home, serene location, needs new cleaning service!
This home looked just as pictured! Beautiful new home with tasteful decor. Serene location and everything you need! However, the house was unclean and dirty. For the cleaning fee of this rental, you should not be met with cobwebs, dust and stickiness. We were not planning on having to clean the home away from home for the 2 days but we left it cleaner then we walked into it and still got charged cleaning fee!? There were a couple safety hazards and broken fixtures. The owner was prompt to reply but didn’t offer any remedy other than speaking to cleaners?! That didn’t help us out any. Also, we had a simple request of putting up pre-lit tree that was on premise and in pictures of rental online as we were doing Christmas. The owner never got back to me and it wasn’t done. The tree however, was at bottom of basement stairs. (And removed from pictures)……I would stay here again and we would recommend if there was better cleaning and the owner cared more about renters and not just making a $! If you want to relax and have no work to do while enjoying high end prices, you should consider another home.

We searched for a place for a long-awaited get-together in the greater Saratoga Springs area. This home on the Hudson River proved ideal. The site overlooking the river is private and quiet and the home is clean, spacious, and attractive. All arrangements were handled in a cordial and efficient manner--our thanks to the host, Vincent. The surrounding area is beautiful, with Saratoga Springs about a short drive away (about 20 minutes).

Five stars!!!
This whole trip away— from start to finish— was amazing! Vincent was great and so so accommodating. He checked in with us and was excellent from the start- we felt very taken care of. The property is amazing and the house was a pure pleasure- it felt like a home away from home. And the Christmas tree was amazing. The highlight was definitely the fire we had outside during a snowfall- it was like a scene from a movie!!! The only issue we had the whole weekend was I could find a lighter to start the fire, so I had to buy one at the local Stewart’s (where we bought ice cream, so it was worth it)! I would give the whole experience over 5 stars, but 5 is the limit! We will definitely be back if Vincent will have us again!
