"I score this hotel in line with expectations - this is an excellent location if you want a day or two savouring a bit of onsen fun and relaxation the way that native Japanese would.
Don’t expect up-scale luxury, but certainly I was very impressed that every convenience was provided within the rooms and around the hotel.
The staff were excellent and very helpful.
The atmosphere is bustling and at times a little boisterous. Particularly the evening buffet was quite ‘energetic’ with a distorting PA loudly announcing all the fresh dishes being set out and fish filleting demonstrations etc.. Dinner time was a sort of event. Plenty of choice at the buffet to eat - I was very satisfied.
The hotel itself is large and sometimes bewilderingly complex in layout. I found it very interesting - like a grand bubble-era project, now slightly faded by time, but still full of interest. It took all of our two day visit to find every little interesting corner.
( I liked discovering the private onsen rooms and stretching out in my own private hot spring bath )
Oh, and there are welcome drinks from 3pm till 6 including wine juice and coffee, and when you leave there is a small free bus to the station ( even though the station is only about 300m away.
In all - had a great time… just went with the flow and came away smiling."
