"We have visited The Lakeside Hotel a few times now - last year we did the murder mystery event which was good and great value for money with evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast included so I would recommend. Most recent stay 22nd Feb 2 nights as a family and our friends family from Sweden - overall great hotel and the kids loved it. The only down side I would say is some (not all) of the restaurant/bar staff are laxidazy when it came to taking orders a few of our orders for breakfast...

"The hotel is located on the main road into Windermere and has its own parking. Check in was fast and the receptionist was very helpful. I was a little disappointed as I didn’t realise that access to the pool with kids is only between 9am - 1pm so we had to move our plans around and take the kids the following morning. "Good things -Clean and quiet hotel located in great central area overlooking the lake. -Room was lovely. -Great breakfast. Bad things - £25 per day for parking in their own car park 5min walk away feels like a rip off. -Over sensitive fire alarm system meaning 1 alarm going off per day of our stay. "When we arrived we were given room 12 but upon opening the door it was filled with builders rubbish. We then waited for a while and the manger came to see us saying he only had 1 other room but it has no hot water. He said we could use the spa for free and was very helpful and kind. He said he will re fund half our money back which I’m not sure how this happens as I still havent had this. If I get my money back I would definitely come again and we did have a really nice time "

Fantastic place

"We had a fabulous stay in the Ancient Unicorn. We were a family of 4 and also had our dog with us. We stayed in the Charles Dickens Cottage and it was outstanding. When we arrived, the cottage was warm and welcoming. The kitchen was well-equipped. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were super friendly. The location is great for exploring the area. We look forward to coming back in the future."

"Stayed in the Eskeleth room - eccentric decor that feels luxurious. Nice views of the dales in a commanding position by the green in Reeth. Breakfast very good with lots of choice. Also had an evening meal which was very good as well. Staff very helpful and attentive. Parking on site. Would recommend for a short stay in the Dales."

"We've stayed before and once again enjoyed. We stayed in the Hotel this time as opposed to the Manor House, but would probably return to the Manor House next time., I think it is easier with the Dogs. Food and Service excellent as always. Thanks,"
