"Repulsive. I heard a lot of noise yesterday from 11PM to around 4AM, loud music, banging on the walls, and people yelling. The manager proceeded to explain that those are their “hotel parties” and that they “only” throw them every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - this HOTEL THROWS PARTIES UNTIL 4AM. Those parties can be heard very clearly throughout the entire hotel. That’s not even mentioning the rooms and the manager; the rooms smell like mold, the water ran brown, the WiFi simply doesn’t work,...

"The place is big and comfortable, the shower is perfect - hot with good pressure. Breakfast is good - eggs, bread and jam, coca tea, coffee and juice. The staff are great and knowledgeable about tours and can arrange them for you . The only negative is that there are many neighbourhood dogs which are so noisy barking all night that I couldn't sleep well. Bring earplugs. The hotel is highly recommended."

"Unfortunately they couldn't honour our full booking due to the person in charge having an emergency but let us stay the first night as it was late in the evening. The price was different to what was booked on hotels.com and there wasn't the stated free breakfast. Maybe this was because the person in charge wasn't there. It was very cold due to the building not being fully enclosed. I can't comment on the trips etc which was the main reason we had booked here due to the good reviews."

You shouldn't do this hike unless you're in good shape or have acclimated to the high altitude, but it's so worth it. I went with a tour company from Huaraz. Getting to Laguna 69, after passing Llanguanuco and meadows and cows and ruins was incredibly rewarding. It's a beautiful place - don't miss it!
