"Nice location in the center of the old city. The hotel is 1 block from the opera house and the lively nightlife around the square, but slightly removed from the noise and relatively quiet. It seemed safe enough outside the apartment on the street, walking to the square. We frequently saw police right outside, and even within the entrance to the building. Good for the price, but the room was small and the sheet was too small for the bed. Large people would have a difficult time getting into the...

"This hotel is well known by locals to be used for prostitution. The front desk is not equipped with any traditional office supplies. They have armed guards in bulletproof vests outside. The neighborhood is full if homeless people."

"First the good points - the hotel is situated right next to the Opera House in a touristy part of town, surrounded by half a dozen nice restaurants in the Square. This is important because many (most?) restaurants in Manaus seem to shut on both Sundays and Mondays, except those around the Square. The offices of a few tour agencies (Amazon trips, boat rides, etc) are also within 2 mins walk. Despite its age, the rooms and hotel have been refurbished, with flat-panel TV sets and modern bathrooms....
