"We did not opt for the meal package so it’s possible we missed out on an amazing experience there but we did not miss out on the top level experience of the Kitanoya. Full Japanese ryokan room with the most luxurious 2 person open air granite ofuro I have ever seen let alone enjoyed with a delightful garden beyond. We chose this place to unwind from the crowds of Kyoto and we could not have made a better choice. Service was impecable. Can I give it a 6? Got a window-less room with paper-thin walls, could hear the bloke next door talk to the missus/kids on the phone (tbf wasnt even talking loudly), others snore etc. Breakfast was also poor (at least the 'gaijin' part of it) It's a pity cause the location is great, rental bikes are free, there are plenty of cafes/things to do nearby."
