"The price for the room was great and the hotel was beautiful. Gym and pool were excellent. The rooms need an update. The showers need updating also but other than that it was a relaxing stay "

"Was very impressed with the new lifts, a big improvement from the old ones, our room was nice and clean, would have preferred a shower that can be held though as I don’t always wash my hair in the shower. The staff were all very helpful too, very nice stay at The Grand"

"I enjoyed my stay.. the staff made it easy and couldn’t ask for more.. the only issue I had.. was I asked for a sea view room, but the windows were that damaged you could only see out when you opened the window, other than that. It was a lovely stay thank you "

"Gorgeous cliff top view of the sea from hotel room. Same amazing view from the dining room at breakfast. Continental only but we found it satisfying. We stayed in a room in the first floor which had up to date decor. Comfortable beds. A little bit of dust in places but you cannot completely remove all dust. I would say that you need a car to access south beach. Overall we were happy during our one night stay. "

"Stayed for a weekend when in the area visiting friends. Generally a nice place, comfortable room and very clean. The bathroom had perhaps seen better days but the hotel overall was fine and parts have been well cared for or updated. Great that it has a gym and pool. Shame the sauna was out of order. Extremely convenient location for the centre and excellent value for money."

"A lovely cosy cottage . In hind site January probably not the best month to visit . Central position, characterful interior . Host very accommodating. "

The location of the cottage is the biggest plus, but it is also appreciated that the owners are generous in providing all the little extra things within the cottage to help you make the most of your time away. "This is our second year staying at Christmas. It’s great location for Sandsend and Whitby. The house itself is warm well equipped and spacious for the whole family to stay. We love staying here as a family and will be returning again throughout the year."
