"Lovely 2 night stay at the Lion Hotel, regularly visit Shrewsbury and thought of staying here for a change , we were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews, so please do not discard this hotel because of some negative reviews, you need to stay here to find out for yourself. "Having stayed at the hotel a number of times, the first noticeable and welcome improvement was in the presentation of the ground floor public rooms. This upgrade is continued in the bedroom (Room 1) which has cleaner lines and is much less cluttered than before. Good quality bed linen. Bed and pillows very comfortable. "The room was spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean. It was also quiet. The included breakfast had plenty of choice, and was very well presented. All in all it was one of the nicest places we have stayed at in England, and good value too"

"Lovely little pub, We stayed 2 nights. Barry the Barman and the owners etc were all so lovely and accommodating. Our room (twin) was very spacious, the beds very comfortable. Toiletries and towels provided. The breakfast was fantastic. Lovely pub and lovely little town to visit. "

"Excellent cooked breakfast. Nice quiet location. They do have band on at the weekend but not a problem on the second floor. Very helpful staff. No parking nearby but that's the same for type accommodation the town centre."

"One night stay as visiting family nearby. Hotel is fine just difficult to get to due to due to flooding defences which obviously can’t be helped. Ironbridge is a very interesting place with lots to see "

"Only a bed for the night but very pleasant old pub with friendly helpful service and cosy room, sadly had to leave before breakfast so can’t comment on food but I would book again for a longer stay in future as it’s a beautiful part of the country to explore"

Great location and wonderful building

"The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Ludlow. There is on site parking and the castle is a few minutes walk away. Check in was simple and we navigated through the meandering corridors to reach our rooms. It’s a 400 year old building so there are stairs, steps and turns as well as some fabulous wood panelling and glass. My room, 104, was a good size with an excellent modern bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a good sized desk plus additional seating and the sockets all had USB ports too. The room was quiet, overlooking the car park and despite the hotel being busy there was no noise intrusion from other guests. Breakfast was excellent, buffet with various cooked to order options. Not excessive but good sized portions and decent service. Overall a lovely stay in a fabulous location."

Great service

"Fabulous team on the front desk, absolutely first class and as good as any 5* hotel even though this is a busy conference hotel. All the staff, in the restaurant, cafe and front desk were just lovely. Rooms fairly standard but clean and client."

"Everything about this hotel is absoluuuutely faaantastic!!! I've had spotlessly clean room's, with super duper comfy beds, fab food from the restaurant, stunning breakfast especially the unlimited full english- yuUUMMMM!, but i still reckon the staff here are Simply The Best!Like the Tina Turner Song. They're really hardworking, approachable and friendly, lovely oh and funny😁, which personally makes them all very special. Thank you to each and every one of them, and from the bottom of my heart.They're an asset to this hotel and our pretty town Shrewsbury. "
