Queen Charlotte Secret Oasis
Modern and comfortable three bedroom cottage with all amenities. Open plan living and car port plus outside BBQ. The pictures speak louder than words. large mature trees and gardens with a fruit and nut Orchard.
All the comforts of home in a rural setting yet only 500 metres from the local store and petrol station. The Queen Charlotte Tavern is also available if you don't feel like cooking or the fishing wasn't really that good !! Wake to birdsong and plan your day....bring your boat or kayak if you have one and park it in your own driveway.
The slightly elevated site has water views over the Mahakipawa Arm of The Pelorus Sound but it is also within easy reach [8mins] of the Grove arm of the Queen Charlotte Sound. The location is strategic to both Sounds but also within easy reach of the vineyards of Marlborough for a Cellar Door tasting or lunch. Proximity to Picton also makes it possible for a day trip to the Capital via the Tory Channel. The local town of Blenheim has all the usual retail outlets and even a theatre.
Havelock is the nearest small town with numerous coffee shops and cafes plus a large modern marina where you can launch your boat at any stage of the tide, why not take a trip on the Pelorus Sound mailboat? The house is also well situated for a visit by boat to the several lodges sited by the waters edge of both Sounds....some only accessible by water.
There are two houses on the property, one occupied by the owner who lives most of the summer at the property in the event you should need assistance. The cottage is situated on half an acre so there is a lot of space for everyone and your privacy will be respected at all times.

Lovely peaceful setting amongst the bush and birds, close enough to family in Anikiwa and friends in Ngkuta with a haven to return to after a busy day. Our host were great, obliging and helpful, we will definitely return to this peaceful cottage with beautiful Hydrangeas my favorite flowers.
Our family really enjoyed staying in this holiday home. It is a very warm comfortable clean home, great to come back to after a day out exploring and fishing. The garden setting is very quiet peaceful and relaxing. Excellent communication from the host.
Over all good bar the sleeping arrangements and the odd bath room set up which could not be locked for privacy. Not suitable for easy access with 6 metre boat in tow very tricky driveway and would be near impossible without a 4 drive vehicle.
We had a great 3 days in this lovely cottage in the Marlborough Sounds. The beautiful setting, good facilities and some nice welcoming touches made it the perfect place to start our South Island road trip. Thank you very much.
Nice and well equipped large house in a beautiful garden and surroundings
We spent 5 nights in the house and enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house is perfect for a family of up to 6 people, the garden is beautiful, we had all our meals outside, it was quiet, not noise from the street. I would always come back. Perfect location for hiking, biking and boat excursions. John was a perfect host, answered all our questions before we arrived.
Thanks for sharing your property with us, handy location to all Sounds, Havelock, Nelson and Picton.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time fishing, skiing and swimming!!
Lunch at Te Rawa and Mussel Pot are definitely on list for next time!
Thank you John, was fantastic ☀️
Lovely property with large garden, surrounded by sheep and cows, to the delight of my young boys! The property is close to a number of beaches and Queen Charlotte Track. It's worth checking for road closures in the area as access to some parts we had hoped to go was closed.
We had a lovely stay and appreciated the fast communication with the host
The place is great, super comfortable and in a quiet place (except occasional crazy cow mooing at 2 am ;).
Definitely good for relaxing and BBQ and staying close to the sounds.
One thing to mention, there are only like 2 places in the house where you can catch weak wifi and there's no reception (or if you're lucky 1 bar of Spark).
The house was perfect for our 3 day stay. It was great to be so close to the Queen Charlotte track. 4 of us stayed upstairs. The stairs were a bit odd to navigate but we got used to them. We were surprised we had to take our trash with us, but perhaps that’s part of the way it is at Marlborough Sounds. Played Scrabble every night. Loved the sheep next door. Would stay there again.

Linkwater
We had a lovely stay here close to Picton, Nelson and Blenheim. A beautiful area and a lovely little cottage. Comfortable beds, lounges and dining table. None of the following comments are complaints but it might be helpful to be aware the internet is patchy, the stairs are unusual and steep, the upstairs bedrooms are not fully enclosed and can get warm, the bathroom has doors to both the main bedroom and the living area which requires a system for privacy and there are sand flies. We enjoyed the local pub, eating mussels at Havelock and our favourite restaurant in the ones we visited in the whole of New Zealand was 'The Fancy Cow'.
Nice spot to get away from it all. The listing is accurate. The Link Pathway cycle/walking track runs right outside the property and you can go quite a distance in either direction.
Tip: To get the key-box code you need to log in to bookabach. While the emails say you will be "sent" the code, it doesn't actually get sent, just becomes visible in bookabach.
Spacious, Fully Furnished, Goregeous Setting Near Sounds
John's home is superbly furnished - private, wonderful gardens, clean, TV, WIFI, excellent kitchen, quiet, peaceful, spacious, easy check-in and out, gas BBQ, A/C/Heat, and great patio. The home has screens! We spent four nights at the home while hiking and enjoying the area.
John is an excellent communicator - making the arrival/departure simple. Highly recommend - do purchae groceries/supplies before arrival - the only "store" in Linkwater stocks very little!
Lovely stay in this clean and quiet home. Easy to get to Picton and Havelock and 40 mins from Blenheim.
Not sure if I missed it on the listing but I hadn't realised that the upstairs wasn't really 2 separate rooms - there is no wall separating the 2 and no door to stop sound traveling from downstairs. Not a problem depending on who's staying and if you don't have early risers and night owls (we did so it was a tad tricky!)! Stairs are interesting...very tricky so you couldn't have anyone who's not confident stay upstairs but we managed fine.
Pleasant and private location.
Options to visit Picton and the Sounds close at hand , also Nelson and Blenhiem not far away.
Comfy beds and nice linen, neat and tidy.
Garden space enjoyable.
A great place to stay! Lovely and clean. Great location. Air-con was fabulous as it was super hot when we stayed. The stairs were a bit tricky.... especially as my daughter had a broken arm while we stayed. The gardens were lovely.
A very laid back place to hang out with family, only a ten min drive to either Momorangi, Anakiwa and not far to Havelock, Picton or Blenheim. The stairs are a bit unusual. The aircon was a godsend in this heatwave we just had.
