"On arrival there was a friendly welcome from Nate and although we were early our room was ready. The hotel has a bar and restaurant which operates separately from the hotel, it's called The Deck. It is open most of the day and  looks out over the lake which is really pleasant and good for spotting various birds and small crocodiles.  The restaurant is supposed to be closed on Tuesdays but luckily they were open when we were there. Best to check. The hotel office can help with tours if needed. They arranged the Lamanai boat tour for us which we really enjoyed. We were happy with our room which was huge, with a very big comfortable bed, and it had a balcony. There was plenty of hanging space. The air-conditioning worked well. There was a hairdryer in the room and also a TV. We wanted to watch some TV, maybe see some local channels, as we relaxed in the room in the evening, but we could only get the apps to work, such as Netflix, intermittently. The bathroom had some toiletries and plenty of towels and loo roll, however due to limescale around the taps and shower it meant that the water didn't flow very well. The shower was just a trickle really. Orange Walk Town is around 8km away so you need your own car or a taxi to get in for dinner. We decided to stay in the hotel, and the dinners we had there had plenty of choice, and we really enjoyed everything we ate over the 4 evenings. All staff were really friendly and helpful."

"Chan Chich is an exquisite adventure melding together experiencing Mayan Ruins, jungle experience with a conservation twist. We loved our daily interactions with staff to include Cali who is an expert mixologist, Emil who made everything look easy, Sean who always had a smile, and the wonderful cook Ian. Every meal was absolutely amazing! Maria and Abdiel took care of all our needs at reception including booking excursions and chartering flights. And of course our expert guides Ruben and Louise who knew every bird and the Gallon Jug Flora and Fauna like professors. They are able to share their knowledge about archaeology, medicinal plants, and wild edibles. They know every animal and animal trail and to be on a tour with them in action is truly an experience of a lifetime! I would tell all my friends about this location and go back again! "We had the best time here. The hosts, Shanna and Kenny were great, super responsive and very helpful with planning things to do. Ernesto, one of the drivers was also fantastic and super helpful. The locals and neighbors around the house were very friendly. A grocery store was located near by and we were able to get most of what we needed to make our meals. Dee has a small bar next door and a small shop where you can get some basics. Dee was so friendly. A Howler Monkey troop came right onto the property one of the days and they were fun to watch. Another Howler Monkey troop spends most of its time across the street at Lloyd’s. Lloyd was happy to allow us on his property to check them out. The accommodations were great. There was a washer and dryer on site that worked well. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!"
