"We loved our stay here. The traditional room was beautiful and clean and what we were looking for in terms of an authentic experience. Really liked the traditional tea set in the room. The green tea is lovely. There was also a different delicious snack left for us each day. The highlight of the stay was the staff who are so friendly and accommodating. They gave us amazing restaurant recommendations not only for Kyoto, but Osaka too. Told us what to expect with the weather, took photos of us...

"It’s a very well aged facility, the room was spacious but the bathroom is small, with no power outlets. I’m 5’6 and can easily touch the ceiling. But overall it is a very quiet neighbourhood, close to the bus stop, and Kyoto station. "

"Beautiful Ryokan located near Kyoto station with almost 200 years of history. Breakfast and dinner options were superb. Staff was super friendly and attentive. It was also really nice meeting the Chef and Owner. Will definitely stay back here again on my next visit to Kyoto. "

"Staff was very helpful. This is a traditional Japanese hotel so read carefully. Bathroom in my room was good enough although a bit budget. Not sure what the basement bath facilities were about but it didn’t matter Slept fairly well. Wanted to see what a ryokan was about. Mission accomplished "

"While there are many Ryokan in/around Kyoto, Wakamiya is centrally located near Kyoto station and is situated in an easy to access area for both trains (Kyoto station) as well as buses passing by to many of the famous temples/shrines/attractions."

"The property is a good Ryokan experience. The hosts were respectful and provide information on how to get through to the tourist spots. The place is well maintained and i would suggest to try the private bath which is conveniently located in the property for free. The Con here would be the distance from the Kyoto station. Make sure to take the Central Exit after alighting from Shinkansen. There are a few easy to follow rules that you are required to follow in this property."
