The room was spacious and getting access to transportation was super easy. It's in a quieter part of the city but there were still walkable food options everywhere.

A nice and quiet place to stay. Facilities are clean and functional. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to subway station entrance and bus stops. A bunch of restaurants within walking distance.

Overall, our stay at Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Omiya was good. The front desk staff were helpful upon arrival and stored our luggage for us since we arrived prior to check-in time. The room was small but that's pretty typical in Japan. We brought 1 large suitcase and 2 smaller suitcases and we were able to open up all 3 suitcases at the same time when using the area by the entrance. The bed was comfortable, there was a large desk, and mini fridge in the room. We found the washroom quite small and it smelled very musty. We also used the laundry services but the dryer was terrible. We ran our cycle a few times in the dryer and still had to hang dry all of our clothes. If it wasn't for the musty smell and poor laundry machines, we'd give the hotel a higher rating. Overall, the hotel was walkable to major areas such as Nishiki Market and Gion (about 20 min) or just a few min walk to train stations and a short ride away.

I thought it was a good fit for two people traveling in Kyoto for a couple of days. It was also pretty close by bus to the Kyoto station as well. Clean facilities and nice staff.

Clean rooms and close to convenient stores. Bus stops are close by as well. About 1km from Nishiki market and Teramachi. I really enjoyed my stay here. It was so quiet and not a very busy area. I will stay here again for sure.

A bit spartan but very acceptable for price. Washing facilities limited to two washer/dryer sets so waiting goes with the territory. Very convenient to subway/bus. Middle of the road restaurants abound in the adjacent area.

It was good stay. Size of the room was good. Location is also good, closer to bus stop and train station. There is no restaurant in the hotel, so morning breakfast was a bit of problem for us.

Great Stay with a Few Minor Issues I recently stayed at this hotel in Kyoto, and overall, I had a pleasant experience. The room was notably larger than the one I stayed in while in Tokyo, which was a nice surprise and made the stay more comfortable. The hotel offers all the amenities you could need, including a washing machine and tumble dryer, which I found particularly useful during my stay. However, the cleaning could have been better. I noticed some hair on the walls of the toilet, which was a bit off-putting. Aside from that, everything else was great, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. If they improve the cleaning standards, this place would be near perfect.

Perfect budget choice for solo travelers
I stayed here for a couple nights and it was a great experience overall, with terrific value. The location is excellent, easy to get around by bus from the hotel. The front desk staff is very courteous, even if their English skills are somewhat limited. My room was near perfect (as a solo traveler) - good AC, nice bedding, very clean. There's only a handful of Japanese channels on TV, but it's a smart device with Netflix, Youtube, etc. The wifi isn't too fast, but adequate for basic things. Other amenities include an ice machine, laundry room, and a communal microwave. My room had glasses, mugs, an electric kettle, slippers and a mini-fridge.
