"We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team. "

"We couldn’t fault this cosy lodge. The room was well lit, well furnished and very comfortable. We were here for 3 nights for exploring the area, and the lodge was perfectly situated for this. Breakfast was included, and couldn’t be bettered. We had two evening meals which were really delicious. The staff were wonderful, pleasant and always ready to help. We would certainly recommend this lodge to anyone, you will not be disappointed!"

"We visited for a wedding in the adjoining Le petite chateau and had a wonderful day. All of the staff were polite, helpful and service was excellent. The wedding food and the breakfast were both delicious. Our room was a good size with a lovely walk in rainfall shower. My only slight disappointment was that the room was very dark despite 2 windows because they both faced onto a wall. It didn’t really matter to us because we literally only slept in it but I’d be unhappy if we were staying a few nights. Definitely recommend. "
