Welcome to our lakefront bungalow in Port Douglas, NY, just a short distance from Schuyler Island!

As locals of the Lake Champlain area with over 25 years of enjoying the lake, we finally realized our dream of owning a lake house. We are excited to share it with friends and travelers from near and far! We look forward to welcoming you and helping you explore the amazing adventures the Adirondacks offer. We’re also a 15-minute drive up the interstate to Plattsburgh, NY, and conveniently located near breathtaking Saranac Lake and the famous Olympic town of Lake Placid, next to Whiteface Mountain. Enjoy year-round activities like boating, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding in the Adirondacks. (Just a tip: bundle up from October-March!)

Please Note: The ferry from Port Kent, NY to Burlington, VT has closed. However, there is a year-round ferry from Plattsburgh, NY to Burlington that takes about 1 to 1.5 hours from the house. For more information, check the ferry schedule here.

Lake get away
House is clean with amazing views. We rented a boat and took it to Burlington and around the lake. Brewery and winery near by. Quiet neighborhood. Loved it

Great quiet getaway

Lake House in the Springtime
The house was perfect for our family vacation. The view of the lake from the deck was so nice to see every morning, afternoon, and evening. There were plenty of outdoor chairs for us and our family.

Wonderful relaxing place for a city runaway
Me and my wife spend a really nice long weekend at this place, and it was a perfect fit for what we were looking for - house, lake, nature around, hikes. Our cat loved it as well!

Peaceful and Relaxing
The views from the property are amazing and the area was very quiet making it easy to relax. I would not recommend the home for elderly or disabled people who do not walk well, there are alot of stairs difficult to navigate (I broke my leg 3 days prior to leaving and it was difficult). The house was clean and stocked with basic necessities. The beds were extremely comfortable, I travel alot between work and pleasure and typically don't sleep well, I slept like a baby! I took my two teenagers (14&15) with me and they had an amazing time kayaking and paddle boating on the water, after a week they weren't ready to leave. The owners even had a little fire set up down by the water for us to enjoy. They responded quickly to any requests or concerns that arrived. Overall it was a nice vacation! was rwasis very responsive

Lake house 2023
We had a wonderful stay at the property and recharged with kayaking and swimming. Lake Champlain was very clean and relatively warm this week. Hopeful to return next year!

Lovely stay over Memorial Day Weekend
My husband, dog and I stayed over Memorial weekend. House was clean and access to the lake was fantastic. Lots of great amenities such as kayaks, paddle board which we didn’t use. Communication with property owner was great and quick. Overall very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Great family vacation
We really enjoyed our week at the lake. We used the kayaks, had nighttime fires on the beach, coffee on the deck, and breakfast and lunch using the kitchen. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. The views from the lake are amazing! Thanks for sharing your home.

We were happy to return to this amazing place and are hoping to come again at some point! This time, with all COVID19 restrictions we finally had a chance to try the paddle boat and it was amazing.

Cute lakeshore getaway
We visited in early April to see the solar eclipse. The house was cozy, cute and comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped, the views of the lake are lovely, and the eclipse was spectacular. The property is clearly optimal for summer use, and in early spring we couldn't take advantage of all of its amenities and advantages. Would love to come back sometime in warmer weather. A couple of things to be aware of: It's a long and steep set of stairs from the parking area to the house -- definitely not for anyone with mobility issues or difficulty carrying things. The road is very quiet, but there's an active train line just on the other side, so there were occasional loud train whistles at all hours.

Loved the property but access was not handicap friendly. All of us are in our 70’s and 2 of us had a hard time with the multitude of stairs. It would have been nice to know how many stairs there were before renting. Also water craft were not manageable.

Lakefront Views
Beautiful views from secluded lakefront property, the house took full advantage with huge window sliding doors which was great for getting fresh air. There were a couple of stairs going down from the parking area to house and from house to beach, probably not ADA accessible so keep that in mind when booking. Families and weak swimmers should bring their own life vests as none were provided for the boats. Definitely bring groceries, closest shopping center is a 30 min drive away. Not sure if off season but the port kent ferry was not operating to burlington. Wine enthusiasts should visit vineyard nearby, it has beautiful views too.

Beautiful Property!
Beautiful lakefront home - ON THE LAKE! We didn't get to use the dock for this stay as it was in the winter but, we are looking forward to renting it again in the summer to take full advantage! Word of caution for anyone with young children (0-3) there are a lot of steps leading down to the house - Children can be challenging and dealing with the steps and a squirmy toddler wasn't fun... so, make sure you have help if you do have little ones. Once inside the house and settled in - it's really perfect! Open Kitchen/Living room - plenty of space for a family: 2 bedrooms upstairs (with a queen in each) one bedroom downstairs with a King (VERY Comfortable King bed!) and the couches (one upstairs, one downstairs) are comfortable as well - I imagine you could sleep a couple more people using the couches and it would still be a wonderful stay. If this property ever goes up for sale , We want dibs! ;p

Hillside house on Lake Champlain
The house was clean. It is located on a steep hillside overlooking Lake Champlain. The view was beautiful. The hillside location lead to a couple of challenges. The driveway was VERY STEEP with a hairpin turn. There were reflectors to help guide you. There was space for one car at the top of the hill to park at the roadside. There were 32 steps from the parking area to the house and a similar number from the house to the water. The house provided two sit on top kayaks for our use, along with a paddle boat which were stored at beach area. My grandchildren enjoyed using them. There was a stone beach with very clear water; remember your water shoes. The house was on a quiet, dead end road. There was a heat pump available for air conditioning or heat as needed but we had a refreshing breeze off the lake.

My family and I were so excited about renting this beautiful property for my family reunion. I checked every detail knowing the fact that there were numerous stairs. No information in words or pictures indicated the steep cliff and driveway needed to navigate to reach the stairs. Fear for my safe entrance to property stairs mandated that I ask for a refund of my paid in full fee for property taxes, cleaning etc. I immediately contacted property owners and management of VrBo according to their written procedures and Book with Confidence guarantee. Talked to owners several times beginning in advance. They would not agree with refund of any kind even things like cleaning fees for a property we could not safely enter. I have spent hours with VRBO "Book with Confidence guarantee" protection management for our refund because of lack of adequate description of safe accessibility of property. No monetary satisfaction for our large payment has been given. The mental stress caused to my family is tremendous. My vacation savings are tied up in a property that was not adequately presented. I am still negotiating this matter with VRBO.

A terrific stay on the water
We enjoyed this cottage on the lake and greatly appreciated direct access to the water. We also greatly enjoyed the local area, including Ausable brewery. We plan to go back again!
