"The villa is located on the hill not far from the village (Makrigialos) though nicely secluded and with complete privacy. The view is spectacular! The setup of the pool was much appreciated, especially by the teenagers. Illias helped us wherever possible and was very flexible with our check out time."

"We stayed at Villa Manika at the beginning of July and had a wonderful time. The villa is a short drive to Sitia with shops, a beautiful harbour and lots of cafes and restaurants. We had a hire car but got a taxi a few times in the evening which was 8 Euros each way. The villa was very spacious, clean and well equipped, we also liked that it was laid out on one level. "We were family of 5 ranging from 23 yrs up plus friends of theirs and the areas of villa suited us so well. Outside space great round pool and other coveted seated areas. Driving a must really as the local cafes, supermarkets and beaches all down the bumpy gravel track to villa about 5 mins away only but definitely a must. The pin drop for villa also essential especially if arriving in dark! One of our best family holidays in an unpretentious area that’s not full of British tourists!"

"A lovely place, situated conveniently close to beaches, various restaurants, local shops and a 'mini'market'. Free parking is available uncovered or covered. None of the properties around the 20m x 10m pool look at each other, increasing your privacy. The only downside was the management dealing with problems etc. We advised them that the TV was not working. They said that that they would arrange for an engineer to come out, but nobody came."

"Our holiday in the Villa met all our high expectations. The Villa has superb accommodation and outside areas and facilities. The Management Company looked after a couple of issues which arose, including loss of hot water, very quickly. Makry Gialos is a fantastic and authentic resort, away from the tourist hot spots. So nice, I fear its secret will be out soon and it will grow and lose some of its charm. I recommend you get to it now! Martyn, Shirley & family. "

"We loved Grapevines, the villas are spacious, well managed and the pool and gardens beautifully kept and never busy. The beach is an easy walk and is sandy. Makrygialos itself is a delightful town, with many beachfront tavernas. There is even a Minoan settlement and Roman villa in the vicinity (the children weren't impressed by I thought both worth a quick visit and they're permanently open). The area is beautiful with beaches dotted along the coastline and beautiful mountains."

"All I want to say is that the pictures on VRBO are beautiful, but they don’t do this property justice! We loved every inch of Moonlight Villas & hated to leave. The location is ideal in which you can walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, bakeries and restaurants. The beautiful Lybian sea is right in front of the villa. Snorkeling was fantastic! Dora, the owner, and the property manager, Poppie, were very accommodating and hospitable. I highly recommend this property!!!"

Very quiet, peaceful, everything you needed was provided, plus the lovely owners were at hand for any issues (there were none) but their gifts of fresh figs and grapes were greatly appreciated. A car is necessary as too far to walk into town, but a 5 min drive. Would definitely return."

"Very disappointing stay. This photos show a pleasant hotel with sea views. What we had was a view of the sea with a very ugly old half built building obscuring the view.
