Will return in 2012
The resort went out of their way to make this an exceptional and memorable visit. When we arrived we found they upgraded us to a Jr Suite which might I add was beautiful and so unexpected. Our room was extremely clean and fresh. The food at the ala cartes was great along with the service. We attended many of the evening shows and throughly enjoyed, especially the Mayan Show. We spent alot of our days on the beach which was beautiful and had ample lounges for all. They have a train that runs from lobby to lobby so walking not an issue even tho this is a very large resort. Also noticed the friendliness of all the staff nice to see a smiling faces no matter where you went . We definately will return.

Great Stay at the Riviera!
Great place. Food, entertainment, beach, drinks, everything was on point except the pillows! Not a big deal but somewhat annoying. I would not hesitate to book this hotel for another trip to Riviera Maya.

PEDRO for President!!
The staff are superb and are attentive to every need and detail. We stayed 12 nights and have no words of negativity to speak. My mother-in-law fell on the 3rd day we were there and even an unexpected/unpleasant event like that was treated with utmost attentiveness and professionalism. She was in to see a doctor onsite within a couple of minutes and no charge! All meals were superb! Expansive white sand beach. Never searched for lounge chairs or hammocks on the beach! This was especially impressive given that the resort was sold out and at high season during our Xmas stay. This resort from the rooms to the lobbies, restaurants, bathrooms, beach area, walkways etc. etc. are impeccably clean!! We left about $5 each day for our maid and were tickled to come home to very creative towel art each day often with fresh flowers. We loved the coconut ice cream at the Grand Azul! What made this resort most special was the people. Employees like Pedro, the porter who went well above and beyond his duties to make us feel welcome and treat us like royalty. Pedro never allowed us to wait more than a minute for a trolley before he'd go get us a personal one and take us himself! Pedro you are incredible and we miss your jovial personality!! This area of Mexico is so beautiful. Wishing all the people of Palladium nothing but the best for 2011. Thank you for making our vacation a breathtaking, exciting, relaxing, fun and most memorable experience. Gracias!

the only thing against this hotel is the beach, there are a lot of rocks that you cannot walk in the sea, even on the beach.

Great Second Visit
We had another great time at the Grand Palladium. We were returning guests and had e-mailed a room upgrade request about a week prior to our trip. We were pleasantly surprised to get an upgrade from the Colonial to the Riviera. Food was excellent as it was last year, and the Segway tour was great fun for everyone. We would recommend this resort over many of the others we have been to in the Riviera Maya.

This was our first all inclusive 6 years ago. We have made seven trips to Mexico in that time, 3 trips to the Palladium. This trip we stayed in the Colonial resort. This hotel does everything well. Food, drinks, staff, are all above average. Our next trip will be here again in the spring. If you are considering the Mayan Riviera you will not be disappointed here.

2nd Visit was a Great as the First
We've been twice since Oct 09 and the GP is still great. The pools were a little chilly the first few days but so was the air temp/low humidity. The resort is beautiful, the staff friendly, shows were good, restaurants were good. Surprisingly, the best food we had was at the steak house. Best drinks were in Hemingways. Small tips go a long way for these people; if you're in a position to, a little goes a long way for their economy and gets you a lot of smiles. Our maid left us a note of heartfelt thanks for our tips. Had to have it translated, but it made us smile. Only negative side we had was from 2 bartenders in the Kantenah bar at night; rude and obnoxious when we asked for drinks only Hemingways served (we didn't know...) We avoided them the rest of the week. Pools were gorgoeus, spa was undergoing some updating but was still great; had a wonderful 80 minute massage. Salt water pool is BEAUTIFUL. All the animals are safe and used to people; there is so much to see and do here, we've been twice and still haven't explored the entire resort! We would definitely go back. We booked private transport thru Expedia/Best Day and it was seamless; we left within 5 min of leaving the airport and went straight to the GP. Saved so much time.

4 Star Really Means 4 Star! Unbelievable multi-resort complex! Top to bottom incredible.
You are not going to find a better place for a 4 star resort. It truly is a 4 star resort. We visited several resorts in this area and The Grand Palladium was the best hands down from top to bottom. The place is beautiful in and out. Food is awesome. So many restaurants to choose from! A la carte or buffet, they were all wonderful restaurants. Definitely not like your typical mediocre buffet food. Quality food with tons of different ethnic styles available. The pool is a dream with tiled chase lounges in the water. The spa is a MUST do as well. Infinity pool with a maze that leads to the indoor part of the spa where there are several hot tubs, and my personal favorite "the vapor room." Hot steam with menthal infused room. Wow! Another draw of this complex is the private villas. Very quiet and secluded and each villa only has like ten rooms or so. We felt like we had our own home because of how quiet and nice they were. Take the time to go visit the other 3 hotels on this resort. Each provide a little different experience with the restaurant choices and pools. The beach is very close to the pool so going back and forth is a breeze! Bartenders are awesome! Strong drinks. Don't forget your 52 oz. Bubba Keg from Bass Pro Shops, as who wants to keep getting up to go to the bar that many times a day! Bottom line: I am a very picky person when it comes to food and my standards are very high when it comes to lodging. I can say I was impressed to the max. Have fun! 1hr. from airport.

The hotel was one of the best in the area. There were plenty of food options and dinner at the steak house was outstanding. Make sure that you venture out to playa del carmen for the shoping.

May make it a 3rd time...or not!
the food was good. we were able to eat at each of the ala cart restaurants since it was under booked. enjoyed each one. especially the japanese restaurant, we requested and received outside seating which topped our trip. My mothers room, who was somewhat wheelchair bound, smelled of smoke and chocked me each time we entered her room...which this was a non smoking facility. Overall everything was fine...bartenders need to be a bit more aware. We sat on a number of occassions at the bar(s) and since we weren't the loudest, got the last service.. the busboy/bell man are wonderful. helped with getting a wheelchair for my mother and with 5 of us going into Playa one or two evenings recommending a private van that shuttled us back and forth comfortably..

A Great place
We recomend this place. The pools, and beach are the best in Q-Roo. The beds as others have stated could be softer. The entertainment staff was the best. Food was about what you would expect, no complaints from us. one thing to watch out for is if you walk like we did rether than take the trams, you need to be carefull when on the main roads they use. they seem to not see you. As for the AC, well we were in the tropics so the open air feeling is why we went. we were able to keep the room at 22C for sleeping, the disco on the other hand was great except for the AC, it had to be at least 30C, not good for dancing. Overall a great place if you dont nit pick everything, We will be back with our friends and bringing the Grandkids next time.

Beautiful Hotel
I went to the Grand Palladium Colonial resort with my boyfriend in early September and we were very impressed with our stay. We flew to the Cancun airport and arranged for transportation to the hotel. Since we did our research we were prepared for the 2 hour ride. The car ride was long yes and not very scenic but it was well worth it when we arrived. The lobby was beautiful as well as the overall appearance. The people at the desk who checked us in were very nice and even offered us a refreshing drink. Our room was ready when we arrived so we were able to go right in. The room was a standard hotel room with a king size bed a small balcony and a pretty marble shower. The grounds of the hotel were big but not too big. The people who complained about it are just lazy. The layout is beautiful with the thached pathways and all the greenery and wildlife around. The pools were very large so it never felt crowded and the beach was very pretty. The water had a lot of seaweed during our stay but otherwise it was great. The food wasn't great I would have to say but it wasn't bad either and there were many options. Guys make sure you bring long pants or else you can't eat at the a la carte restaurants. The drinks were good, kinda strong. Our stay was relaxing and just what we needed. THe place never seemed full.Advice... bring lots of sunscreen, aloe (the uv rays are so strong), and bugspray (for night time) oh and don't expect to watch a lot of tv in english so bring books. Enjoy!

CAN NOT WAIT TO GET BACK !!!
It is an amazing feeling to wake up every day and see the jungle life and trees! truly a beautiful scene! The Palladium and all the people that are employed are very very very respectful of the environment and making sure that future generations of people can experience the beauty that is the Riviera Maya! There is so much to do just on the resort, there is almost no reason to leave! I would suggest the Palladium to anyone that is traveling to the Maya region. A++ on all accounts!

Been there 3 times already and plan to go back (simply he best hotel in Riviera Maya)
This was our 3rd time at the Grand Palladium and we would definitely go back. We have already tried 4 other hotels in Mexico and found the Grand Palladium to have the best overall score by far in our opinion. It just has everything a family needs to spend a nice vacation. Beautiful grounds with lots and lots of greenery, clean and large pools, nice beach, shopping, good food with a la carte restaurants every night, the best spa in the world with the best massage therapists, indoor and outdoor activities, the staff is great and very helpful...

Great hotel but need some improvements.
This was actually my second time in this hotel. My first experience was so great, I had to bring my family and friends along. The first time I went there was back in 2003 for a bachelorette party consisting of 8 women. This time around was a family vacation consisting of 14 people. I was very disappointed on how they handled groups, especially their restaurants. They require a 24 hour in advance for reservation and you would need to place your order at the time of your reservation. It's really impossible to have 14 people's menu order prior to its actual dinner. So we never reserved and we just went to the restaurant without a reservation. We had quite a problem with one. We knew it was going to be a wait, but they expected us to wait for 2.5 hours for a table for 14. So we asked to just be seated separately, but if they could try to place us near each other. We ended up in opposite sides of the restaurant. But the worst part was that there were pleanty of open tables, some tables for 6 people, and yet we weren't put there. they split us up in groups of 4, 4, 4 and 2. Other restaurants also gave us some problems, but wasn't as bad as what i described above. So I hope they make improvements in handling big groups.

Best Honeymoon Ever...
The place was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is great! We loved everything about it. It is a little drive from Cancun, but I think it is worth it. People were super nice and friendly. Even taking the public transportation was a fun experience. The people are open to talking and teaching you to speak Spanish. The beds were a little firm but I like them that way. Everything was great! Want to go back and spend more time there.

Completely Satisfied!
Grand Palladium exceeded our expectations! The service, food, location were great. In many instances, the workers at the palladium went out of their way to help us out, e.g. driving us privately to our hotel room due to forgetting our vouchers for an outing. The workers were friendly and knowledgeable. We've always been hesitant to go to an all inclusive due to the possible quality of food but the food was phenomenal. We didn't like the Japanese restaurant but El Dorado and the Brazilian restaurant were good. The buffet had fresh and delicious assortment of foods. Yum! The only downside I can think of is that the alcohols were not premium. If you're used to premium liquor, this makes a huge difference but it didn't ruin our stay. We'd love to come back!

Relaxing Vacation
The resort was beautiful and the food was decent. The beach is gorgeous. When we arrived we were told they were too busy to explain the whole all-inclusive thing and to come back later. When we came back later, we were given a map and an overview and then the woman tried to coerce us into some VIP program; she was a little pushy. Otherwise, our entire stay was wonderful, the buffets had different food every night and the a la carte dinners were not bad. The bartenders were all wonderful, especially in the Kantenah hotel lobby bar. The water and ice is safe for travelers, which was good because the frozen drinks are excellent. We had a mayan suite very close to the beach and pool, it was the perfect location and a beautiful room with a patio, hammock, outdoor shower and plenty of space. The biggest drawback is the distance from the airport, over and hour and a half, but otherwise this resort is excellent.

No exactly what we had in mind!
Got to hotel and everything appeared great. We paid extra for the mayan suite b/c it was our honeymoon. Let me tell you the pictures look nothing like the room!! Our rock shower was just an outdoor closet with a shower head. We do not feel like we got what we paid for! Food was reused for a couple days after it was prepaired. The pool was over a hundred degree F so swimming was horrible!

my sister's wedding was beautiful !!
My sister got married to my husband's best friend while we were in Mexico. All of the arrangements were great! We started off with an upgraded room. We had a great time the entire trip. The best food was at the restaurants rather than the buffets. We had a large group so it would have been a long wait to eat together, but since we spent the whole day together anyway, we divided up and ate separately and only had to wait 5-30 minutes. Everyone we went with had a great time and we had no complaints!! Suggestions: -Don't pack a beach towel, they have them available with a card and it takes up too much room in luggage. -Do bring multiple swim suits. It is humid and they don't dry well in the room, so unless you want to put on a damp swimsuit, bring an extra. -Do bring more cash than you think you will need, especially $1's. Tipping is not necessary to get good service but it is nice. Also, some of our trips that we took were discounted if we paid cash. -If you are going for a wedding and want to get a hair updo, see if you can get a price list before you go. It was very pricy, so I ended up just wearing my hair down which was hot, however my sister said manicures were not expensive. -Remember that the airport is about 2 hours away, especially if you have to stop at other resorts to pick up more people. We had to leave at 2:40am for a 7am flight. Plan your flight accordingly!!!
