"We had a very comfortable 2 night stay in the Jerusalem Suite with easy access to the kitchen shared with one other suite. We used the kitchen to self cater (as National Park has limited dining options and my partner is vegetarian) and made use of the oven and gas hob. We had the use of a fridge and the kitchen had all the pots, pans, utensils, etc needed for producing meals. Our room had a good sized bed, plus a sofa and table and a couple of dining chairs. A small wardrobe, but only three hangers. The en suite bathroom was also spacious with a large shower cubicle. Easy parking on site. We used the complementary laundry facilities to catch up on some washing. Very nice hosts, who offer to assist with arrangements for the Tongariro Crossing if you need this. Breakfast is available at an additional charge - but we had planned to self cater."

"Chef, reception staff and owner went out of their way to make our stay exceptional. Generous size ensuite room with fabulous outlook and balcony. Warm and cosy and totally appropriate to prepare for and then recover from the Tongariro crossing (hot tub) and to explore Ruapehu. We'll be back for a week next time. "

"Great stay. It took a little while to get used to the fact that this property is unmanned but it actually worked very well. Check in was easy. The kitchen was well stocked. The shower pressure was great - although the shower is protected only by a curtain so not super private but wasn’t an issue. The bed was comfy. We stayed in a private room which even had a smart tv! Hostel luxury! Would definitely recommend. It is in the middle of nowhere but easy to access Whakapapa village and the other attractions in the area"

"We loved our stay in National park village. The owners were wonderful. Duchy gave us great advice about the Tongariro crossing (a fabulous walk) and Gill looked after us well and gave us a lift to the station. All facilities were good. Local eating options are limited but reasonable. "

"What a great destination - we loved the privacy and enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night watching the stars. Great view of Lake Taupo, the city lights are on the other side of the lake, so we could easily see the Milky Way and other stars in the night sky.The property had a large kitchen, living room and bedroom. Everything was clean and well appointed. The property doesn’t have Wi-Fi but it did have excellent mobile service. We also enjoyed walking the grounds and met the neighbor, who is also the caretaker of the property and they were very nice.Great destination to rest and relax!"

"Nice lodge on the outskirts of the Tongariro National Park. Very welcoming owners. Nice continental style breakfast prepared just for us. "

"Alexander Motel is not a 5* hotel but everything works as advertised. Room, kitchen and bathroom are all clean. Bed is comfortable. For a small kitchen it is well equipped including an air fryer! It is easy to find and situated <100 yards away from the main road. There is an rsa restaurant beside the hotel for good value straightforward food. On the Main Street there are many cafes for breakfast options"

"All the staff we met were friendly and helpful - quickly resolving a booking confusion caused by the booking site …. Next time we would book direct as they were so helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent both nights. The location and setting are superb … great views, “middle of nowhere” but still access to all mod-cons. Brilliant stay!"
