Positives and Negatives
It was difficult to come up with a fair review for this property - so here's the positives.
Good location close to Herradura & Jaco, nice pool with shallow end for the young kids, wonderful outdoor spaces (covered buildings - amazing sitting outside during massive rains), big property that feels private, good room layout, a nice "local" property feel. AC and fans in the bedrooms were excellent.
It would be a 2-star review if left within the first few days, not sure if we're the first renters but here are some of the negatives.
The property manager & on-site maintenance speak no English, us no Spanish (both very nice), but the property management group (Vacasa) is terrible IMO. It took 5 days with multiple requests by us to get more than 1 key and gate remote so we didn’t have to leave things open when not day tripping together.
Property pictures are misleading - playset is in poor shape and you wouldn't let kids on it, trampoline has some rot & wouldn't be safe, tennis court has rackets but no balls and no darts for the board and the ping pong table is just a table (no net or paddles). As most people don't travel with those, and they feature so prominently in the pictures I'd expect they'd have those available - in our case not major issues but felt a little misleading. We could only find 4 pool towels which is a bit odd considering they advertise it sleeps so many people?
We paid about $400/night (rainy season) so 4-star value, less if it cost more.
