Beautiful Secluded Property
My family and I enjoyed a nice getaway in the woods with plenty of wildlife. The house is very cozy and has plenty of beds and chairs. The property is beautiful and has an awesome sunrise coming over the mountains. The dogs enjoyed running around the yard. We will be looking to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful refuge in the hills of southern Vermont
Wonderful house on a gorgeous hilltop property. Hosts are kind and reached out to us to ask if we needed anything and we wound up having a longer chat about the history of the area. If you're a cyclist like me, this area can't be beat for gravel riding.

Wonderful experience & hosts
We stayed at the house for almost a week. We loved that is was secluded, with a huge and accessible property where the kids did a lot of sledding and bushwacking. Donna and Chris are super responsive and accessible. They graciously offered us an extra night at no cost to ride out a snow storm. We hope to return again!

Amazing property!
I planned a last minute solo vacation and this property was perfect. Set on 25 acres with incredible views, the home is situated atop a small mountain and very serene. Tons of stacked firewood and a great wood stove made for relaxing days reading and resting which is just what I needed. The owners were excellent with communication and my dog loved romping through the snow as we walked around the property. I will definitely be back with other family members!

Felt right at home
Quick and friendly communication from the Owner, clean, authentic home with acres of privacy. The property was already plowed and shoveled for our arrival at the tail end of a nor'easter. We loved the house so much we started looking at plans to build our own. Short drive through the quaint villiages to the ski slopes. We hope to stay here on our next trip to Vermont.

A great weekend getaway
We had a wonderful time. Great location, just a short 10 min drive Wilmington where there are shops and restaurants. Close to Mount Snow, 30 min drive. The home had great charm. Roomy enough for 10 and two dogs. A little too cluttered for my liking and could have felt cleaner ie. there was a bowl of previous tenants bacon grease left on window ledge above the sink. We would definitely go back.

Extraordinary Experience!
This is our Vermont favorite! Perched way up among the hills, this affordable and rustic homestead has spectacular views of the region. There is not another home to be seen from the property. The peaceful privacy is a rare find. Without the light pollution of a city, the stars glow so brightly in the night sky. We loved the spacious deck, whirlpool tub, fire pit, and wood burning stove. Dogs love running around the acreage. Home is clean and comfortable. Fast Wifi. It's also great location and relatively short drive to local dining and recreational spots including Mt Snow valley, lakes, and parks. We enjoy kayaking the Harriman Reservoir and hiking Molly Stark Park. The owners are gracious, responsive, and very helpful with recommendations. Their family goes back generations in the area so they are a wealth of information to help you have that authentic visit that most tourists miss. Highly recommended. We will be back!

The condition of the house is very far from the city and the worst part is that the house is everywhere. Chad dolls and pig puppets are like cursed houses and the bed sheets are very dirty. It is not possible to sleep on the pillows because of the head odor. I tried to sleep by covering the pillows with a towel. I rented the house because the people who recommended it gave good grades to that house. I don't understand why they gave good marks, I definitely do not recommend that house to anyone.

Great, secluded property with a view
The owner recommended 4wd to make it up the access road to the house, and they weren't kidding. It's a long, dirt hill and we needed to shuttle a couple of our friends up to the house since they didn't have 4wd or snow tires (we got some April snow during our visit). The house itself is very nice. The decor is ancient, but gives the house some character. The view from the porch is very nice, the heat worked great, plenty of comfortable sleeping space. Overall, no complaints! I would recommend it as long as you have 4wd. Also, I don't think any of us had cell reception near the house.

Amazing and Idyllic getaway (especially for dogs!)
We loved our time on this property. We had initially planned on roaming/hiking around southern VT with our dog and 3 year old, but ended up spending hours and hours just exploring the property itself and relaxing on the deck, on the grass, in the tree house, in the hammock, by the fire pit, under the stars… the list goes on and on! The property is very secluded, we had our dog off leash the whole time, in the night we’d keep him on a high-vis collar to keep track of him. Our son suddenly turned into Huck Finn and loved rummaging around the woods in the back, crafting things and playing games in the shade. They have many binoculars for watching the many birds (owls, swallows, falcons) and other critters around. The wood fire stove inside was great and easy to use, and the owners left useful instructions for everything. Will return.

You actually feel as if you are staying at a friend's home. The early morning sunrises & evening sunsets vs.the backdrop of the mtns are views that we have never experienced before. Truly rare.Simply magical. We highly recommend this very special custom family home if you want to get away and enjoy privacy, peace & serenity. Peace & Serenity in a Stunning Setting
As a repeat guest to this charming custom Post & Beam 'Home' , I highly recommend staying for a long wkend or a months at time. My fiance' and I are enchanted by the sweeping long driveway all the way to the top, there sits this special log cabin (with almost 360' mtn views!) Every sunrise and every sunset amazes. For the purist, for whom the mtns call, this is your spot. The hosts are the kindest & warmest people. You feel well taken care of the second you step in the door- to an open concept home with lovely furnishings, beautiful rugs, big sofas (& deluxe rocking chairs/ Lazy Boy's!) The loft level is entirely a Master Suite with skylights and French Doors to a balcony with a separate open study (with an incredible & impressive library.)Main level has an additional 2 charming & cozy bedrms- one I enjoy using as my private office. Below, are double queen size beds and toys galore for your kids or Grandkids. Best of all, your 4- legged family is welcome! Our dogs love the majestic setting as much as we do. We plan on coming back to Chris & Donna's haven 'up on the hill' as often as we possibly can. Kate S.

Rustic charm
Review of house in VT This charming, post-and-beam house sits near the top of a hill, within a beautiful landscape of trees and old stone walls, with views of the mountains in the distance. You have to look hard to see the nearest neighbor’s house (at least when the trees are covered with leaves). The wrap-around porch, including a screened-in sitting area, is a special treat. All you hear are the birds calling and the hummingbirds whooshing around their feeders. The décor fits the style of the house – rustic but comfortable. The kitchen isn’t modern but is adequately equipped in terms of staples, spices, and utensils. The first floor has a bathroom and two bedrooms, one of which is perfect for a child. The upstairs has the master bedroom (with a small porch, a skylight and a slightly soft queen-size mattress), a modernized bathroom with Jacuzzi-style tub and a great view over the fields and woods, and a large sitting area with a desk and plenty of books. In fact, the house is remarkable for the amount and diversity of reading material. The partially finished basement has additional beds, but was pretty musty. The house as a whole benefited from airing out; perhaps it hadn’t been used for a while. Internet and cell phone service worked well, as did the all-encompassing audio-video system. The location is a little remote and in winter the dirt road might be difficult to navigate without all-wheel drive, but we found we were within easy striking distance of stores and restaurants. We were attending the Marlboro music festival and enjoyed taking the back roads (some paved, some not) to get there from the house, at least in daylight. Also, when leaving Marlboro to return to Boston, we found that it was much quicker to avoid the Rt. 9 traffic by coming back toward the house through the woods and taking Rt 112 to the Massachusetts border and Rt 2.
