"I purchased travel insurance because there was a huge chance for issues. Sure enough the airline canceled the flight within 24 hours of booking and the property kept saying cancel is possible but we had to do other steps. We followed the steps and more steps elsewhere were given to the point we were sent to a dead end."

"The place is beautiful. I loved the views from my room. The bathroom was big and i enjoyed my bath at the end of a long day. The flowers and the chocolate were very appreciated. I also believe the flip flops they give are a real nice touch. I would recommend this place its in a wonderful location also."

Great stay at Asalem

"Asalem is a great place to relax. Very friendly, great views, quiet. Problem for people that have issues with stair climbing as located on a hill and to get to rooms steep stairs have to be dealt with. Bungalows are beautiful and on 2 levels. To get to main bedroom again steep staircase. Bathroom is on lower floor so if you have to get up at night starir case awaits to get to bathroom. Besides the stairs the hotel is great. You have to take ship from Concecao 15 mins or from angra dos reis 50 mins to abraao on the island a d call hotel for boat pickup as you cannot walk to hotel with heavy luggage. The hotel boat could be better. I rate the stay as excellent as the views, the friendliness of the personnel and the hiking and beach options are really great"

"Almost everything was great: staff was friendly, breakfast was delicious and plentiful, room was clean, WiFi was excellent, location was safe and convenient. Only thing was one of the elevators was down so it was a bit of a wait for the elevators. "

Cool place!

"It was a really cool place to stay. Right on their own private beach! The staff were friendly and helpful. Don’t speak English but Google translate is a blessing. We had a free breakfast and lunch which was awesome! The room had a lot of character and the kitchen and bar are open reasonably late. Wish it had an air conditioner, and our room was right by a communal area with no noise proofing. And we had to pay for the beach towels which was weird. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable either with either a very warm blanket to use or a narrow throw which wasn’t comfortable for two people. Also be aware you either have to take a taxi boat, or hike 2.5 hours. Don’t believe Google maps! It’s a moderate hike but incredibly humid. They also gave us a ride back to Abraao which was really nice. Overall a good stay"

"Very convenient option before crossing to Ilha Grande. The rooms are very basic but the bed was fine and the a/c was in good working condition. Staff and the owner were very friendly and accommodating, including special requests that we had. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of options. "
