"Nice house in the Ottawa Beach neighborhood. Walkable to lake Macatawa and Lake MI, Dune Dogz, kayak rental and more. Accessible for seniors and little kids. We had 6 kids and teens and 4 adults overnight with an additional 4-6 family members joining us during the day. The house has several sitting / conversing areas, so if your family is large, loud and talkative you will have plenty of places for quieter discussions. The bedrooms were quite nice and had a lot of light. Only window A/C, but they were effective and the house was very comfortable. The porch was a highlight for us, with plenty of room to eat and talk and play games. The kitchen is quite small and also contains the back entrance to the house, but all appliances worked well and we were provided a coffee maker and microwave. Parking for only two cars in the drive, so plan accordingly. Great property management - good communication and everything was as described. They were responsive to questions and issues. 5/5 will rent again."

"We really enjoyed our time at this rental. Location was perfect, walking distance to the beach, stores, and restaurants. House was large, we all really enjoyed spending time on large porch. Beds were comfortable and clean. Everyone was very helpful and responsive with any questions we had. Overall, a great stay for our family!"

"We had a great experience with the Sun and Sand cottage. The location was fantastic. Short walk to the beach by all the beautiful cottages. Great neighborhood and friendly people all around. The porch was understated! Wraps around the front with a day bed, seating area and a place to eat and play cards. We spent all our time there when we weren’t at the beach. Would definitely stay here again!"

The location is great! Very close walk to Lake Michigan. The house has a great big screened in porch and 5 bedrooms. It was nice but could use a bit updating.

I think it needs some improvements
Needs to fix upstairs shower that leaks into downstairs bedroom. Needs better A/C. Needs more parking for larger groups, not enough for 12 people. Kitchen very small and very basic for cooking for families.

Great Overall Experience
Quaint beach cottage with lots of character, great location, fully stocked with amenities. Unfortunately we had a maintenance issue our first night but they were immediately responsive and took care of it. A previous reviewer mentioned trouble with the oven not baking. We baked a birthday cake during our stay and it worked perfectly. So this issue has been resolved.

Charming!
Reminiscent of what life was like in days gone by… the huge screened in porch created lots of slow down and enjoy time. The short walk to the amazing beach was part of the fun. The beach was wonderful… sun, sand, waves, volleyball, lighthouse…

Holland the beautiful.
This house is in a great location with quiet neighbors and walking distance of many local attractions for the young at heart. Very old home but the rooms were adequate space for all the family. I carefully choose a place with few steps in and out the door's, a walk in shower and bedroom downstairs, and furniture with arm rests for two people with motility issue's. The biggest draw back was no air conditioner downstairs. All other amenities were in place.

Pros: Great location, beach chairs/wagon provided, equipped for toddler (booster seat, baby gate, bathtub), hosts a large amount of people. Showers had good water pressure and there is a newer washer/dryer in the unit. Lots of box fans provided. Cons: Oh so many. We were aware there was no central AC but were told there were window units in 3/5 bedrooms. When we arrived only 2/5 had AC. We called and emailed, were told they would get back with us and that never happened. Very hot outside of the 2 bedrooms with AC. Disappointed with management on many levels. Kitchen is tiny, no counter space, stove/oven does not work well, and there is NO DISHWASHER. It took 25 minutes for biscuits to bake in the oven....normal cooking time 10 minutes. Water is funky....bring your own for drinking water. House was not clean. Our feet were black when walking barefoot, clearly had not been mopped in a LONG time. Rugs needed vacuuming, ants filled one of our suitcases that was stored near kitchen, flies and spiders/spiderwebs throughout the house. My in-laws reported that the maid arrived about an hour before check-in, so clearly it was a quick job. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows left much to be desired. It's sad, the house has a lot of potential and needs some attention. The location is great but I would definitely not recommend staying here if you can help it.

Amazing Weekend
We had a great weekend getaway! A group of friends escaped the city and loved relaxing at this gorgeous house. We spent so much time on the gigantic, screened-in porch. It was our favorite thing about the property. The location to the beach was also fantastic. Don't skimp on the ice cream at the general store, it lives up to the hype!

Summer family getaway
Our family of seven, all 21 years and older, had a wonderful vacation. The location to the beach, biking/walking trails and general store/ice cream stand was perfect. We loved the screened in porch enjoying family dinners and game night. We appreciated the ample supply of beach and bath towels as well as the beach chairs and wagon to transport all our gear to the beach.

Awesome Location
This house is in a perfect spot for enjoying the quaintness of Holland. Within walking distance to Lake Michigan- there is a beach wagon and beach chairs to take with you to the beach! Plenty of fans, a couple of window a/c units upstairs made the house comfortable with temperature ranges 78-82. Bathrooms were on the small size and could use some updating - but were very clean. Wrap around screened-in porch was the highlight of house!!

Property and location are fantastic! We absolutely intend to stay here again! Strongly recommended. Many thanks to the owners for the "extras" -- towels, sheets, laundry detergent, etc. I've been starting in Holland cottages for ~30 years and found this level of hotel-like service unusual. Keep it up!

Family Getaway
This might be scattered with random thoughts as they come to me, so hope you can follow along. The location was perfect! Neighbors were great! The guy across the street was very helpful with tips since we have young children (ex. sometimes people drive too fast past the house, there’s poison ivy in the woods, and the deer are super friendly). It is a very kid friendly house with games, toys, and even a couple boosters for the table. Just be careful with the stairs. Since it’s an old house, they are very steep and the steps are short. I saw in a couple other reviews complaints about the lack of A/C. We only had one rough day. There are a lot of fans, but glad we brought a few of our own as well. If you keep the porch windows open with a fan blowing out of the porch, you will get a really nice breeze out there. Each room in the house comes with a fan you can put in the window and you can also turn the “house fan” on as well. The house has a charcoal grill as well as a beach wagon and the outdoor ladders game. We actually brought all three of those items and could have saved room in our car if we knew ahead of time🤷🏻‍♀️ The General Store has really YUMMY ice cream and is literally 1 minute walking distance from the house. Kind of dangerous in a good way! Really great vaca for us!

Sunny Corner Cottage
We had a wonderful time at this sunny, corner cottage. It was the perfect balance of historic character and clean, modern decor. We loved the wrap-around porch, lots of places to sit and read or enjoy conversation. Functional, well-stocked kitchen. Charming claw-foot tub, comfortable beds with cotton sheets (scent-free!) Quaint boardwalk leads to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Thank you! One criticism... please ask the grounds crew to wait until tenants are gone to provide yard service... Oh, and skip the herbicides!! There is NO such thing as 'safe' poison. I'd rather see a few weeds and know that the grass where my children are playing is not toxic. In fact, post a sign explaining - I think others may appreciate this too.

A little misleading
Not going to lie, felt a little catfished here. The photos online were beautifully staged and looked like a very charming house but he fact that pictures of the exterior didn’t quite match the quality of the interior was already a red flag for me. Starting with the positives: location was perfect, close to the beach, quaint neighborhood, porch is great. House was clean. Plenty of linens and towels for our week long stay, and washer/dryer was a great help. The house is pretty warn down, a couple updates had been made, in regards to the downstairs bathroom – was great to have an extra shower. Other than that, the house was really warn. Half the lights worked (broken table lamps), the other half had cheap fluorescent bulbs, doors knobs falling off, no cleaning supplies, one trash can in the whole house, one bedroom had a curtain for a door. These may sound like petty complaints, but when your paying decent money for accommodations you’re expecting the place to look like it’s advertised and have the same level of amenities. We had a wonderful trip overall, this house has tons of potential but I’m too old to be vacationing in an old college house. Would travel back to Holland in a second.

What a place!
We absolutely loved our stay in Holland and the kids are still asking about "going back to the yellow house." That porch is the best! Sure, there was no central air, but we were aware of this going in, and the lake breezes, ample fans (no need to bring your own), and window units made it quite comfortable (and this was mid-July). The house was well-appointed, and the addition of the second full bath was a bonus! Look forward to a return visit in the future!

Super fun week
Location is excellent for proximity to the beach and to the General Store, Ice Creme Shop, Boardwalk and Hot dog stand. The kitchen and upstairs bathroom are "quaint" to say the least. Badly in need of updating from the 1940's. NIcely furnished with towels, bedding, etc. Beds were all comfortable, especially fun sleeping on the big screen porch.. There were no working outdoor faucets, which made clean-up from the beach difficult. Overall, we had a wonderful time with our children and grands.

Great house, no air
We very much enjoyed the home near Ottawa Beach, especially the wrap around porch. A significant issue was that the home is not air conditioned, which was not obvious on the VRBO website. Thankfully, after a 90 degree start, the weather cooled down for the rest of the week. Another issue was that there were only 3 teaspoons and few larger spoons in the silverware drawer. Otherwise, we enjoyed the home.
