"The pictures are misleading. We never saw that small cottage and we never saw that large dining room. Perhaps because there really wasn't much service. "There is a lot of renovation going on at Reykjanes, but mostly that's on the exterior and doesn't affect the interior or your comfort in anyway. Don't let the exterior view of the building put you off. The place has an interesting history and they're building for the future. The small peninsula on which the hotel is located is interesting in itself with a salt factory, "hot beach", and of course the large hot pool. The setting and the views are pure Westfjords. "This hostel lured us in with a cheap price and then tried to charge us for basic amenties. 2000 kr for a pillow and sheets? You gotta be kidding me. I ended up using the bed skirt as a sheet because I refused to pay. Everything else about the place was decent and it was clean although I didn't see another guest the whole time which was a bit off-putting. Pool looked nice if you want to pay for the showers."
