I took this picture in Carroll County, Va. I found this house by going down deep into the country roads. This picture represents what so many people think that mountain people live in. The house is ran down, it's surrounded by woods and there is a confederate flag displayed on the front of the house. When I saw this house, I instantly thought of a victorian style home in the 1950's and that whoever lived there most likely was considered wealthy. However, since the house is run down and has a confederate flag it may convey the idea that the people living in this house today are poor and a "redneck". I actually think that people who would rather live simple than extravagant live in this home. These people are probably your old time southerner. #appalchianechoes

"The house was exactly as described and perfect for our long weekend getaway. There was lots of areas for hiking nearby and perfectly located for a day in Mt Airy. Comfy beds, nice big towels, great shower water pressure, well stocked kitchen, lovely views, easy parking at the house, We’d definitely stay here again. "

"My daughter and I stayed here for the night on our way to Myrtle Beach and I am so glad we did. It was half the price of the other hotels in the area and it was perfect for our overnight day. The front desk staff was so friendly they even called as we were arriving late to check on us and see what time we would be arriving. The room was spotless and clean. The bed was comfortable. I normally would not have stayed at a motel six and passed it up, but I am so glad that we stayed here."
