"Very nice place, we were stuck in the rain on the mountain roads at night and decided to call it a night. Found this place and got back to the bigger highway. Spacious feeling room, nice and comfortable. Decent breakfast too. Glad we found it. "

"We had a family gathering. The home is in excellent condition has everything you could ask for. Kitchen is well stocked with all the gadgets and appliances. We all continued to be amazed at how much thought was put in to each room. It was raining so we did not get to enjoy the fire pit but it looked very inviting!"

"The woman at check-in was personable & friendly. I was disappointed only with the morning coffee—they didn’t have lids for the plastic cups & when I asked, they said there were none. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this motel over a coupla others in McAlester, when I’ve had to stay there. This motel has totally changed my perception of a Motel Six! "

"This was our family’s 3rd stay in Carlton Landing and it was as magical and relaxing as always! All the houses we’ve stayed at in Carlton Landing have been fantastic, but there were a few extra perks for our family with the Independence House. Its location is perfect for walking everywhere and is facing a big open grassy area where the kiddos had a blast playing football, wiffle ball, and even getting to fly a kite! A huge perk for my coffee obsessed husband was the espresso maker and bean grinder. He brought his favorite beans and was ecstatic every morning to be able to have his perfect cup of coffee! The owners were amazing to work with as well. Very prompt on responding to any questions we had. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back!"
