"The experience was what we expected. Very Japanese, quiet with beautiful gardens. They changed our booking from a room for 6 to three rooms for 2 each and had a nice garden view. However, I found it to be a little dissapointing. Shukubo evolved during the past 20 years, and now catered to foreign visitors. "I chose this ryokan since it was the only reasonably priced one in the Nara area. It has a beautiful garden just outside our room and the room itself was comfortable and large. The only downside to the place was the strong smell in the room and the cockroach that I had to kill as it crawled across the room."
