Historically the area has been a hub for merchants in medieval which makes the city a melting pot of cultures from outside Japan. This particular bridge is called the Fukuhakudeai bridge that crosses the Naka river which historically connect the samurai town of Fukuoka and the merchant town of Hakata Fukuoka prefecture food ingredients specialty is the mentaiko or salted cod roe. The strong taste and smell is unappealing for some people but if you're into something fishy then you should give it a try :)

"Good value for money. Rooms are new, but small - typical for Japan. Excellent breakfast buffet, nice conference room area for focused work, and the highlight is a nice sento (hot bath/sauna). However, very self-service, staff is not always around to help."
