Very Good

This hotel was amazing. The staff and housekeeping were nice and exceptional. The public bath was very nice and there is a separate one for women that they keep a key for at the front. The room met my needs as the area was nice, quiet and calm. As an added bonus, you get views of Mt. Fuji almost everywhere you walk.
Very interesting experience. You must take your shoes off at the door and put them into a locker that has a pair of slippers for you to wear inside the hotel. The room was small but clean, with a very deep tub. There were no pajamas (something that I have found in a number of hotels). It was a bit out of the way, and Google maps took me to the wrong place - though if I just looked up I could have seen the sign on the side of the building. Warning: the bowl of eggs in the breakfast is raw not hardboiled.
Here is the good ... exceptionally clean hotel - they make you take your shoes at the main lobby entrance, there is an public bath - separate mens/womens great for groups to relax, hangout.
The not so good - they are OCD about locking,re-using disposable slippers, won't allow you to work in the lobby (rooms are too small for more than one laptop ). The strictness is a damper.
There is no actual view of the mountain from any of the hotel rooms, you have to really exit on to the street. (when Fuji-San permits a viewing, you can see her across the whole town).

For the price for a double stay with breakfast ( make sure to just have bread and coffee, or if you prefer to have rice make sure to stay away from the fried viands) the room comes cheap. Just be careful upon entering the room to avoid stubbing your toe. A wood pallet like steps that is placed right at the entrance area (which will help you get to the bathroom) is hazardous. Be careful not to trip!
The hotel and its staff provided quality service. Breakfast was great and the room provided was clean and comforting at a low cost.

Beautiful Mt Fuji
The hotel is a former hospital with very small rooms (as most are in Japan). It is located a JR train ride and a subway ride from Fuji Station. Locals are friendly. I would suggest you speak to Tourist Information at Shin Fuji Stn (Very helpful) We went on a tour and yes, got to see Mt Fuji covered in snow.
I stayed over for New Year Day - it was fun to walk around the local area and see how locals celebrate the incoming new year.
There is a nice Kushiyaki restaurant close by.
We stayed in Hotel Nishi on our way to Tokyo. Pros: 1. This hotel is super clean. 2. The observation balcony on the fifth floor offers a good view of Mt. Fuji if weather is good. 3. We love the buffet-style breakfast. There are many choices of healthy and tasty food choices. 4. We used public bathing facilities for hot bath and loved it. Cons: The hotel room we had is small and that is quite common for many hotels in Japan.
it is a nice place to stay very clean and good breakfast.

Basic hotel
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights because of our plans to climb Mt. Fuji. The hotel was very basic but had everything we needed including washing machines and dryers. The room was spacious and clean but not very cozy. The staff was helpful and spoke some english.
You are required to leave the hotel between 10:00 - 15:00 because of cleaning. This was not a problem for us because we would be gone the whole day, but may have been problematic if we were staying for a longer time.
The location was close to a local bus station, where buses will take you into town. Otherwise the area was quite boring. There are some shops and restaurants, but we did not spend much time looking around. You can however catch the bus to the centre of Fuji town where there is more to do.
