"We came to Trier for the Christmas market and to visit the Roman sites. The hotel was ideally placed for both. There's no restaurant but the hotel buffet breakfast was excellent and catered well for a gluten intolerance. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Parking in the underground carpark was fine if a little tight to navigate in a bigger car. The staff were excellent and helpful. They spoke perfect English but humoured our schoolboy German! All round good."

"Loved the place but the room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor and not only was there no elevator but the stair case was very narrow and difficult to bring the luggage up. We still loved it and understand the way it is looks better so it’s not a con, just think it’s good to know, specially for people traveling with small children like we did. "

"Disappointed that the extra bed was not ready for us despite reception knowing that it was a room for 2 adults and a child at check in we had to go back to reception to get a child’s bed. The hotel says that children stay free, but that was not our experience as my friend had the room next door and she paid less using the same booking platform and we booked at the same time. "

"Na zoveel positieve reviews waren wij erg benieuwt naar dit huis in het voor ons nog onbekende Saarland/Duitsland. Bij aankomst werden we heel hartelijk ontvangen door de gastheer en gastvrouw. Zij wonen aan de voorkant waar meer dan voldoende parkeerplek is. Via een kort steil paadje kwamen we bij het vakantie verblijf aan de achterzijde. "A lovely, well-equipped house in a stunning location with its own fabulous garden. Brilliant for our family group of 10. Lots to do locally. The gem museum, gem mine, Celtic settlement were great trips and the open-air swimming pool in Rhaunen was much enjoyed. We visited Herrstein twice! Klaus and Anna were really helpful hosts. Highly recommended."

"The hotel is located on top of the hill and the town, that’s approximately 20 min walk down a well bricked path is sleepy… It is not the hotel’s fault, but nonetheless the town only has a few shops open. Although, I believe most visitors are here for the open market or to hike the castle ruins beside the hotel. Overall, the hotel is excellent. Customer service is great and the restaurant in the hotel is superb regardless that it’s the only show with a 20 min walk area. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway or a relaxing weekend adventure. Thank you."

"Lovely place to stay and relax, great pool and sauna facilities. Nice restaurant and bar and easy parking. Nothing else around except a separate Italian restaurant which was basic but served fab food at good prices - a nice alternative to the hotel’s own restaurant. Safe and easy parking."
