"The property is basically a garden shed with basic amenities. There were stains on the floor and walls, only one knife one spoke one fork and one teaspoon and the cups, plates hadn’t been washed and were sticky, plus there were no bowls just plates! On the first night I complained about the smell in the flat which didn’t really get sorted and the next morning we had our first showers in the room. "Had a lovely Xmas eve through to Boxing Day, didnt get a chance to use the sauna unfortunately but log fire was lovely. Beds very comfy, but sofa bed quite firm.Andy very communicative and friendly Would recommend."

"Pet hairs, live and dead flies everywhere. Surfaces had clearly not been dusted in weeks. Microwave and cutlery but no sink to use except the bathroom. Toilet brush had remnants from previous guests. Hot water was intermittent. I went a day unable to shower. The bed was comfy and location peaceful but totally devoid of wildlife"

"Drake Cottage is a delightful place to stay. It’s (really) old and beautifully renovated with lots of great touches for guests. It’s very close to the centre of Saffron Walden but quiet.would love to come back. "
