The Hobbit House at Fernstone is truly a one of a kind structure, not only in the Laurel Highlands, but beyond! On the outside, you'll appreciate the thoughtful placement among the trees, ferns, and ponds that make Fernstone so special; but when you step foot inside, that is when the magic really begins. In fact, when you aren't exploring the grounds and taking in the natural beauty of the Laurel Highlands, you'll be spending your time trying to figure out the craftsmanship that went into weaving the heavy oak timbers together to form the reciprocal rafter roof structure. And this is a type of construction that is rare indeed! Conveniently inherent in the design, is the opportunity for the stunning clear glass dome over the bed that allows you to gaze at the stars as you drift off to sleep. And of course, no OVR stay is complete without a well appointed bathroom, complete with tiled shower and unique custom made sink. The Hobbit House was great! The WiFi didn’t work very well but not anyone’s fault. The property manager had great communication and answered me via text message promptly. Overall we had a great night and the property was amazing. Also great location to casino.

THE BEST TIME!!!
this was a trip for a friend and I! Just to get away and relax.. unwind! ended up bringing a third at the last minute that was just having a really hard time! we had the best time!! the place is so cute! hot tub was fabulous! the property is just amazing! so beautiful! I live close and this was so worth it! we felt like we were secluded and just had the world to ourselves!! I plan to return! I also plan to stay at other properties owned by the same! all so perfect in their own ways! DO IT!! NO REGRETS! ... it is small.. bring extra bedding/ pillows. we discovered you can see in the shower from the main room! ha!! we laughed so hard!! just hang a towel.. no worries!! definitely gave us another laugh! we didn't get to enjoy the fire pit... but it's awesome! if you want to grill... bring starter! we had no lighter fluid but we made it work! lol free wifi was great! tv... to chill before sleeping... very little... we just wanted to enjoy every moment! really terrific spot!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!
This was probably the best vacation rental we have ever been to. It was snowy and cold when we went, but we were still able to enjoy the hot tub and use the grill. The star gazing window inside was our favorite part even though the night didn’t allow for many stars to be seen. We 100% fully intend on coming back to this location in the summer when we can go rafting and try out some of the other activities around the area. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay.

A great time in Farmington! We were the only ones renting during our stay, so being in the area alone was a little spooky at times. But the property was delightful, had great accommodations in a small package, and wonderful sights and hikes were close by. Would certainly go again

Very unique and fun property in a pretty, quiet setting. My only problems were that the gravel road to access the property is a bit rough and finding the right driveway can be a little tricky, especially if not arriving in full daylight. The directions provided by the property were great but Google Maps seemed to be pinpointed to another driveway for some related properties a couple hundred yards down the road.

Even Better in Real Life
This house is even more amazing in person! I rented the Hobbit House for a mini getaway and birthday escape for my boyfriend, and it was perfect. The home is absolutely gorgeous, with a cozy cabin feel, stone flooring, a beautiful bathroom sink, a mini kitchen, a hot tub, and a fire pit outside. The property is maintained by the wonderful team at Ohiopyle Rentals, and a special shoutout to the maintenance staff I had the pleasure of meeting during our stay. The grounds are impeccably kept. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with the location, home, and staff for this rental.

Magical visit!
We were so pleased to have had time on this property during the off season. It was so private, quiet, and full of wildlife. We hope to visit again! We highly recommend the butchers box! Bring butter, long tongs, and steak knives. I'd rather not give this glowing review, as we truly hope to book again soon We did have issues with connecting to the wifi, but had planned to disconnect from the real world anyway

Great for couples
Was a perfect anniversary get away. We took a space heater because of a review we read stating that the furnace had a hard time keeping up in the extreme PA winters. I’m so glad that we did because it was very much needed to make our stay comfortable. The pond was beautiful and the location was hidden off the main road. We did have concerns about security because the only lock on the main door was a simple hook and eye latch which seemed a little scary knowing bears could break that easily
