"Hotel do Canal is our favorite hotel in Faial. The staff are warm and friendly. The accommodations are nice and spacious. It is pretty handicap accessible and offers onsite gym, tours, multi-lingual staff, and delightful restaurant! We had dinner to which no detail had been overlooked and a great wine list was available. We also always enjoy a delightful breakfast with local offerings and general European cuisine. We already look forward to our return!"

"I was confused about how the key code entry worked, and the office sent someone to help us right away. From then on, things went fine. The main reason we picked them was their involvement in science and research, and a tour we received was beyond our expectations. It was arranged on last minute request and made our brief stay the highlight of our 18 days in the islands."

"We traveled with a large group and this was the only home that could accommodate all 7 of us. The owners reside in an adjacent home on the property. They were there if we needed anything but did not intrude. We had access to a washing machine, and the home has a bathtub which several of us enjoyed. The views from the property are incredible and you have a large outdoor area with a picnic table and BBQ. Definitely a rustic home with lots of old world features. It was challenging to cool down but I believe we had unusually warm weather. We purchased two fans and had to keep the doors and windows open and it was still quite warm in several of the rooms throughout the night. Leaving everything open invited a few unwelcome guests in (mostly crickets and beetles). Ants were also a challenge, don’t leave anything out including fruit. Mornings greetings from roosters and cows, no alarm clocks needed."
