"Lovely historical property and good value for money. Quiet location, great stop off for travelling on the A66, with Barnard Castle just a short drive. Easy check into cosy courtyard cottage. Nicely decorated and furnished, though the bed would benefit from a better quality mattress. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Evening pub menu satisfactory but not exceptional."

"Daniele and Glenda made us very welcome and were always very attentive. Arranged our evening meal at short notice. Plenty of informative leaflets for people to take to plan their outings. "

"An old farm house, located directly on a crossroads, with views over the countryside. The room was clean, pleasant, and comfortable. It was more a guest house than a B&B, with the main rooms, including the kitchen, available to everyone. Guests avail themselves of supplies and facilities to make their own breakfast. Host was friendly and welcoming."

"Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. "All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too. Cottage was nice a little place although i think the tv was slightly too high on wall. As we arrived there were 3 plumbing vans parked outside so had to park out side another cottage for bout hour n half till they moved their vans after going in pub at front of cottages before parking own car then outside our own cottage. Lovely night away

"Another lovely stay at Slaley Hall. I always feel relaxed when I stay and love a walk around the grounds. The room was big and comfortable although parts were showing their age, like the door into the bathroom and wooden wardrobes, however, this really did not detract from a lovely night away. Will be going back soon. "
