"Last minute booking and what a great little find. Room was spacious and beds comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. Shower was pretty low pressure but got us all clean and in all we had a great stay. Location is brilliant, 10 mins walk to the beach and 15/20 mins walk into Whitby centre. Only downside is no breakfast available but plenty of places in Whitby for this. "

"The Helaina is a very high standard of bed and breakfast property. We stayed in a Premium Double room on the top floor. The room was very spacious with an excellent bathroom/shower. This room is reached by 6 flights of stairs of varying lengths (it is on the 3rd floor), so not for the infirm or those with heavy luggage. "My top floor room with dormer window had great views out to sea - the payoff being 73 internal stairs in addition to the dozen from street level! I'd previously stayed at this property so was aware of the stairs and the property owner Emma also messaged me at the time of booking to check that there were no mobility issues. After a minor issue around check-in times, I was able to quickly settle in and found my room to be clean and comfortable with good quality bedding and a generous refreshments...

It is ideally situated just off the Cleveland Way to walk into Whitby, a flat walk approx 45-50 minutes or to Robin Hoods Bay a more undulating walk approx 2.5 hours, both with fantastic views.
