On a sunny day, sitting on the decking with a drink is glorious

"Overall it was lovely but had minor quibbles so 4 star. not 5. Remote control for TV worked poorly. Outside table had broken leg and left unrepaired. Attention needed to back on front and back borders which had begun but not finished. Drinking mugs were unpleasantly heavy and large. Felt a bit end of season! We would however come again and recommend it to friends."

"We enjoyed a lovely weekend in The Barn which is situated in beautiful countryside near to some fantastic walking.The directions to the property and the information were accurate and helpful.The Barn is well equiped and comfortable with plenty of parking for groups like ours who may be bringing more than one car (we brought 4).The owner was very responsive to questions and was generous with a later check-out time. We'd happily come here again."

"Great location, easy to find using SatNav, and attentive staff. The room was decent with a powerful shower and tea/coffee making, comfy bed, decent space with desk & chair. Whilst the carpets on the staircases seem a bit dated, otherwise it was a splendid stay with a cracking good breakfast! And love the peacocks strutting around the grounds!"

"Our experience was amazing. The room was so cosy, clean and warm. A beautiful bath with gorgeous toiletries supplied. The owner and son were so friendly and helpful. They have a dry room which was great for our hiking gear. The breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had at any hotel, b&b or guest houses. Will definitely be back again. "

"What an amazing hostel! Perfect location and lovely building, The panelled lounge full of lovely leather sofas, books and a roaring fire was particularly fine. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the beer was good and the full english veggie breakfast the ideal precursor to some stiff walking. "

The Inn Ravenglass

"Stay as really good , was a bit anxious as we climbed the old stone stairs to the room but openend the door and the room was better than I could have expected , it had an amazing view from the window . Downstairs was a lovely pub that served some excellent food "

"Really enjoyed our weekend here. Staff are really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. We had a meal and it was lovely. Breakfast was cooked just how we like it. It was a good base for exploring the area too. "

"The property was very good. Fantastic views of scafell pike and surrounding area. We stayed in a pod and was surprised at how big and comfortable it was. The dining facilities were excellent. Great choice and ample serving..also the dinner menu available was very good and dined there every night due to the excellent choice and portions. Thank you for a greatt weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city li"
