"We stayed at Viola's Cottage for our annual rally race trip. Upon arrival, we discovered there was no power. Just as we were about to reach out to the host, Peggy and Jon arrived to let us know that power was out in the area due to high winds. They had provided us with lanterns and flashlights to get us through until the power was restored. They also gave us access to the basement of the house as severe weather was expected. No power also meant a limited supply of water from the well, so we opted to eat dinner at a restaurant in Steelville. We made it back to the house just as a severe storm hit the area. We took refuge in the basement during a brief tornado warning. Once things calmed down, we all went to bed. We woke up to a chilly house still without power, so we headed to Salem for day two of the race. We got notice from our host at about 11:00 AM that the power had been restored. We still had a full day of activities but were extremely happy to hear we would be able take showers once we got back. We didn't get much of a chance to enjoy the amenities of the house due to the storms. However, I will say the the beds were comfortable, and there was an ample supply of towels, washcloths, and hangers which is not always the case with a rental home. The house was clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked. Peggy and Jon were gracious host and went above and beyond to help us ride out the storms. Hopefully, we will have a chance to stay again under better circumstances."

"This was my first cabin -camping stay vay. This was the most peaceful yet exciting place to stay. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful . The owner is very hospitable, accommodating and kind. "

"A perfect place to welcome spring! The Lolblolly Pines on each side of the hot tub were beautiful to look at and sunrises and sunsets were so relaxing. The front porch was also a great spot. Definitely check out the closeby Meramac Spring Park. We would love to return. "

"Next time I am in Salem, I’m staying here again. The lady who runs this house was very easy to contact for any questions. She is more than accommodating and responds very fast. The bed is comfortable, the shower stays nice and hot. Easy access to everything in town. A very cozy place to be."

"The house is set up very nicely with lots of attention to what makes a place comfortable and relaxing. It is bright and inviting and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom decor was soothing and inviting. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully equipped with plenty of utensils/plates/gadgets/etc and the bathrooms had plenty of quality towels (hand and bath size) and no shortage of quality paper products and bath/kitchen/laundry accessories. Great stay and loved the fact that we could take our dog! Would absolutely book again. "
