You will be close to beaches, mountains, a canyon and a country park. The Diamond Harbour Eatery and Bar is open daily 9am to 6pm, Thurs, Fri, Sat open 9am to late. The small supermarket "Four Square" is only 2 minutes walk away (open daily 7am to 7pm). Orton Bradley Park (5km away) offers extensive walking and biking tracks. Orton Bradley Park also has a wonderful garden cafe (open Wednesdays to Sundays - during summer only).
There are at least two beaches within walking distance. There are also several multi-day walks nearby on the Banks Peninsula, including the Packhorse Hut and the Rod Donald Hut. You can walk up Mount Herbert, the largest mountain on the Banks Peninsula (approx. 6 hours round-trip) or local, shorter walks, like the cliff track walk with spectacular views.
From the Airport: You can reach this property conveniently by Bus & Ferry (go to https://go.metroinfo.co.nz and a journey planner is available). If we are available we are happy to pick you up from the ferry in Diamond Harbour. Please arrange this in advance. Also ask for bikes in advance if you'd like one (free of charge).
The ferry from Diamond Harbour to Lyttelton is 3km away (30 mins walk) and the journey takes 8 minutes. From Lyttelton a direct bus route takes you into Christchurch centre and from there to the Airport.
