We used the location as a base to visit Pisa, Cinque Terre and Florence and the hosts made some good recommendations of places to visit on the coast e.g Lerici and Levanto. "This place is an absolute delight. It’s a winery built in the middle of an old medieval castle next to a mountain stream and surrounded by vineyards. The wines are delicious. The pool is perfect for cooling off. The rooms are lovely- ours overlooked the neighbouring village which was a 15 minute walk along a riverside path and over an ancient pedestrian only bridge.
