"This inn is basic and without pretense. It is clean and well maintained. There is a pub across the parking lot called The Mermaid which share employees with the inn. The people here are fanastic, always genuinely smiling and friendly."

"Friendly helpfull staff. Comfortable & clean in need of a bit of TLC . Shower looked good but didn't use it... my fault as I was put off by large window in bathroom which had a net curtain, I didn't notice till too late the blind! Very good location for town, cathedral/gardens & Apex. Got car in their car park which is small not sure where you would park if no spaces. "

"Nice pub with rooms. I was told that the hotel part was going to renovated later in the year but the room that I stayed in was very comfortable. Will definitely use the Fox again. "

"A loverly village inn with great food and real ales. Very comfortable bed and room very clean. Shower was clean and they water hot. In all a very comfortable stay. We were, attending a wedding at Leez Priory which as 5 mins away. Local Chelmsford cabs serve the Leez so transport back was very easy. "

"What a fabulous place to stay. Accommodation was separate to main building. The staff were extremely helpful. Open fire was roaring when we got up for a first class breakfast. A little hidden gem in a beautiful village. "

"We had a lovely stay. The hosts were welcoming and friendly - they clearly enjoy and take pride in their job. The room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with amenities (after a long day the hot chocolate was well needed!). Breakfast in the morning was excellent quality."

"Very welcoming & friendly staff, clean room & comfortable bed, breakfast was excellent with a choice of menu. My only concern was our window would Not stay open & we were very hot during the night although a fan was in the room could not sleep with it on, In the morning very little hot water pressure, this could be the someone else had the hot water running at the same time, these were very small negatives but would definitely stay here again "

"Really lovely place the staff were great I couldn’t fault it 10/10 for everything food was delicious fantastic atmosphere all around will definitely be my go to place in the future when I’m in the area ."
