"Great location and car parking was available (and free). Lovely friendly staff who made our stay as comfortable as they could. The rooms are extremely clean with everything you need including tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Great breakfast choices and freshly cooked!! The only thing I would criticise is the size of the bed and comfort. They could probably do with being upgraded. "

"Hotel was well situated in the heart of the village, easy to locate with plenty of onsite parking. Next door to a great pub with good food. Room was very clean and tidy with a sea view. Breakfast was really good. Very friendly place, would definitely stay again if in the area. "

"Cosy and comfortable. Decent bedding and excellent duvet. Really nice breakast. The bathroom safety rails should be replaced as very rusty but plenty of hot water. Overall very clean, only let down by the rusty rails in the bathroom. Wouldnt put me off staying again, it was so peaceful and comfortable."

"We stayed for one night en route to a week’s holiday in Cornwall. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, making sure our stay was a good one. We had reserved a table for our evening meal (along with our dog) and thoroughly enjoyed the food."

"The room was comfortable, warm, homely and reasonably clean although there was some McDonald’s waste in bin on arrival. Unsure if room had been vacuumed as found a coin on floor. Only 1/2 toilet role on arrival for 3 people. All amenities would have looked better full on arrival. Bathroom had NO mould. Overall this was a nice place but it’s the little things that matter. A bit noisy with road. Breakfast gets served in your room. The cereal is already in your room in small jars, some 1/2 full. ...

"I went to book into the hotel and it was closed, dark and empty. I tried to contact them on both numbers provided. Nothing. No answer, no call back. I tried all day and it was so frustrating and worrying as we had no idea where we were going to sleep that night. I left it until 5pm and then found another place to stay. Thought that perhaps something had happened and they'd be back the following day and may offer the two nights from then. Next day arrived and same fiasco. The hotel we had booked...

Parking is a huge plus as difficult to park in Chard and you can walk right onto the highstreet to pubs and restaurants. Would stay again."

"A classic pub, the building is old but it is a lovely place to stay, 2 minute walk from the starcross train station. (which also has the ferry to Exmouth) The room was clean, bright and comfortable and the owners are very accommodating. Would happily stay here again"
