Nice Chiang Rai hotel for the price
Our stay at the Rasa Boutique Hotel in Chiang Rai was generally pleasant. The reception was friendly and efficient and less bureaucratic than some Thai hotels: We had two rooms, one for me and my wife and a second for my wife's sister and her young adult daughter, who arrived later. We were able to check into both rooms without needing to have everyone's ID copied. The hotel is slightly dated but is designed in a nice Moorish theme. The pool was easily accessible but did not appear to be that well maintained; quite a bit of small debris was floating in it, but that was a minot annoyance. Our rooms had no water pressure for the showers when we arrived, but after we alerted the front desk, maintenance people took care of the issue quickly. Breakfast buffet is adequate, but not fancy, though fresh brewed coffee was served. Our rooms were on the second floor, but there was no elevator. (Not bad for us, but a caveat for people needing accessibility.) One comment on printed information in the hotel description: The Chiang Rai night bazaar is described as being a "17-minute walk" from the hotel, when it's actually about three kilometers away, and you really need to take a cab. The King Meng Rai the Great Monument also is a bit more than the "2-minute walk" in the description. It's fairly close, but more like 8-10 minutes away!
