"I stayed at this hotel twice. This review is referencing the second stay. Upon arrival I was asked if I wanted to stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor. I had booked a regular room, but was given a suite. It was a large, lovely room with a nice view of a small wooded area behind the hotel. They also gave me my drink chips that come with booking through Expedia. You can use them at the bar, or if you don't drink you can use them on their pantry drinks. The pool area here is amazing. It's an indoor/outdoor...

"I stayed in this hotel many times over 30 years. It was one of the anchors of downtown Des Moines. The last few times, it was run down, worn out, although still clean. The amenities had dwindled. Since the renovation by Hilton properties, it is now very nice, has a great bar/restaurant, and has been updated to be very open and bright. The rooms are very deluxe with nice furnishings. Quite a difference from the '80's and 90's! Great to see such a historical landmark brought back to life!"
