Beautiful trullo with private pool in rural setting - family friendly, sleeps 6

Mandorleto is a beautiful, spacious (150m2) trullo flanked by traditional lamias and panoramic views of ancient olive groves and medieval towns perched on the hills of Valle d’Itria - a perfect holiday home for families with children of all ages. The 2 Ha (5 acres) private property with century-old olive trees, fruit trees, and local flora lies on a hill 5km from Ceglie Messapica, the gastronomic capital of Puglia. The location is peaceful, very private and only a 10-minute walk from Seppunisi farm where you can buy local mozzarellas, cheeses and other fresh dairy products 7 days a week.

A highlight is the swimming pool area overlooking the olive grove and surrounding countryside. There is a spacious terrace with 6 comfortable sun beds where you can soak up the sun or relax in the shaded gazebo on warm summer afternoons. The gazebo with a stone dining table that comfortably seats 8 overlooks the pool and courtyard in front of the trullo, making it an ideal location for both day and night entertainment.

Mandorleto was fully renovated in 2012 using traditional materials to create an authentic trullo experience with modern comforts! Small archways, hidden alcoves, and domed ceilings give a mystical ambiance that only a trullo can generate. All floors are made from ‘Trani’ marble, a honey-colored stone from local quarries. Windows have mosquito netting, traditional outer grills and shutters that can be left open at night to let in air. Walls up to 2m thick ensure that temperatures inside stay pleasantly cool during hot summer months.

Mandorleto can comfortably sleep 6. There are 3 bedrooms – 1 master bedroom with double-bed 2,10m x1,60m; 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds 1,90m x 0,80m. A baby cot and high-chair can be provided upon request. There are 2 bathrooms with walk-in showers, bidet, toilet, and washbasin. The living room with 2 sofas, lounger and fireplace is located in the main trullo. The spacious kitchen is bright and fully equipped for gourmet cooking with extra large fridge to keep drinks cool. There is a dining table that comfortably seats 6, a small seating area next to a wood burner and double-doors leading to a spacious, shaded terrace with large stone table for outdoor dining. The BBQ area is next to the terrace, a laundry room with washer & dryer is behind the kitchen, there is free Wi-Fi with strong signal throughout the house and swimming pool area. A secure parking area for 2-3 cars is located on our property.

Fantastic days in Puglia
We thouroughly recommend the villa. A great location out in the country and 10 mins from the Ceglie Messapica. Plenty of space in the Villa for the 5 of us and the facilities are excellent. The pool area was excellent and there are several eating areas. We used the barbeque a couple of times and for the other 6 nights visited local towns to eat. Very relaxing and great communication from the hosts. a big success....

Magnificent Trullo in Tranquil Surroundings
This property was truly amazing, in every sense of the word. The information booklet sent in advance was very useful and told us so much about the area, which places were best to visit and some of the best places to eat. Hayley and Anthony, who met us and showed us round the wonderful Trullo, were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The pool was enjoyed by everyone, especially the children. Our favourite restaurant was Vino fritti e Cucina in Ceglie, but we also enjoyed Pizzeria in Pescarosa, being fairly close to the Trullo. Our favourite place that we visited was Alberobello, and we loved the beaches on the Adriatic coast. It was a wonderful holiday with many happy memories for my brothers 40th birthday. You have a fantastic home Robert and Ina. Thank you. Joanna & family.

Great Trullo experience
Unique stay in a traditional Trullo style house; plenty of room, with style and character. A spacious kitchen and a nice sized pool. Situated about easy 10min drive from Ceglie Messapica town along a quite narrow but reasonably good road. A good base location to visit some of the towns in Val D’Itra

We have a truly wonderful stay. The house is exactly what we needed - spacious, clean, peaceful, practical and beautifully placed in the countryside. It was fantastically helpful to be guided to the location by Hayley and Anthony (who are absolutely amazing). Our two children (6 and 8) loved every minute, as did we. Thank you!

Idyllic holiday
Fabulous property, great location for a restful time, the region is stunning, un-spoilt and local towns are beautiful. Food and wine was off the charts and so nice not to see The Red Lion or others of that ilk, just Italian through and through. Both coasts are stunning, Matera and Alborobello were amazing as was most of what we saw. The owners were very easy to deal with and the property hosts could not have been more accommodating if they had tried. The nearby pizza restaurant in the hills was charming, the food was very good, the location lovely and the staff were amazing!!! Overall a fantastic holiday, will be back in the future, could not recommend this place and region more highly!!

Unique and beautiful trullo in Ceglie Messapica
We had a great vacation at the trullo. Robert provided excellent and detailed information about the house and surrounding area. Staying at the home provided an authentic feel of trullo-living with the benefits of modern amenities and a beautiful pool. My only suggestions are a few more fans and some roadwork on the bumpy local neighborhood road.

Fun property very well equipped
The checking in and information pre holiday was superb and we knew exactly what to expect. The Trulli are split so one end has two bedrooms and a bathroom while the other end has another bedroom and bathroom. That was great for us as for our daughter and son in law could then have some privacy. The pool was wonderful and with temperatures often mid 30's it was lovely to cool down or just have an early morning swim There is a bar b q and one of the Ceglie supermarkets has fresh fish and gave us appropriate fish to cook. It's not a very touristy part which is nice.

A piece of paradise in Puglia
As a true Puglia lover, I was on the hunt for a property which could cater to my family as I wanted to share the beauty of the region with them and Trullo Mandoreto exceeded our expectations. Ceglie Messapica is my preferred location in Puglia and this property is in the perfect location, only a short drive from the town but still amongst the beautiful olive groves and near to the local farmshop Masseria Sepunisi which was amazing for cheese, yoghurts and ham. The trullo itself was brilliant and allowed my family to have the most wonderful holiday. Robert and Ina have created a beautiful home which allows you to relax whilst enjoying the magnificent pool, views and BBQ. We particularly enjoyed how there were many seating locations which gave everyone enough space. The trullo was beautifully clean and comfortable and was the perfect setup for 6 adults sharing. We spent many nights having wonderful BBQs and watching the sunset. We highly recommend the local pizzeria which was recommended to us by the lovely Hayley and we also dined at Osteria Pugliese for a very laidback dinner as well as our usual favourite Da Frano and Relax. Special shout out to Il Brillo Parlante on Centro Storico in Ceglie Messapica which is a beautiful bar/restaurant in a historic square. Thank you so much to Robert and Ina (and Hayley!) who made our experience of staying here perfect. They are the best hosts I have ever experienced and my family are keen to return. Thank you again! Mandoroleto exceeded our expectations in every way.The house is spacious and attractive with something special in every room. We are a group who cooks and we have never had such a well equipped and well organized kitchen. We enjoyed the ripe persimmons. Excellent information was provided to help us with the house and in our explorations, on foot and by car, of the area. We enjoyed our peaceful and fascinating stay immensely.

This was truly a winner!
Beautiful trullo in a remote area, which is very easy to reach by car. The Trullo has everything you need for a wonderful stay, including a large swimming pool with wide sun beds. The landlord is very detailed and careful with the information provision: the description of the house with the possibilities, the restaurants and the sights, everything is listed in detail in a clear folder. In the immediate vicinity is Ceglie Messapica, the culinary center of the region. It is truly delicious food in one of the many restaurants. The many sights are also very easy to reach from the Trullo and worthwhile. Robert & Ina, thank you for the pleasant stay and the many fine suggestions you gave us. This was truly a winner!

Beautiful well-equipped comfortable retreat
We were enchanted with the beauty and comfort of this property, tastefully remodeled from several trulli into a picturesque vacation home. Complete with lovely garden, fruit trees and swimming pool with a lovely view of the countryside, Mandorleto is tastefully furnished with modern furniture and antiques. The bathrooms are great, and we loved cooking in the big kitchen. The complimentary olive oil from the property was a real treat! We did a lot of driving all around the area to see Ostuni, the ocean, Matera, Ceglie Messapica and even Lecce. Because the house is located in a warren of narrow country lanes, it would work better as a place to stay and vacation rather than drive around. We tended to eat lunch in whatever town we were visiting for the day, and then cook dinner in the trullo, rather than drive out again to nearby towns.

Welcome to Puglia!
We spent 1 week in the Trullo and it is exactly as seen in the pictures, both inside and outside. The views are fantastic as well. The trullo is very spacious and the outdoor space is perfect for lounging. We followed a lot of the owner's advice for stores and restaurants and it did not disappoint. The local farm down the road is a great place to buy local products. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Cold, uncomfortable and very remote
We are two couples and were taken to the property by the agent Haley who briefly showed us around but couldn't get away quick enough. You would never find this place without a Sat Nav and there are metal shutters and locks on all of the windows and doors which did not fill us with confidence due to the remoteness of the property. If you are of a nervous disposition do not consider staying here. There was a log burner in the kitchen and when I asked about logs she said we could either forage around the garden for some or we could buy some but could not tell us where to get them. We eventually found some stacked round the back of the property. There was another log burning fire in the lounge which hardly threw any heat out at all and for the first 2 nights we sat on the sofas with our jumpers and jackets on. The bedrooms and bathrooms were so cold to the extent that when using the shower the steam from the water filled the bathroom so the window had to be open defeating the object. The beds were so hard and none of us had a good nights sleep for the whole 10 days. Eventually we asked Hayley if they could provide some portable heaters for the lounge and bedrooms. She provided 2 heaters that only took the chill off the lounge and one of the heaters kept tripping the circuit breakers so could not be used. We spent every evening sitting on uncomfortable dining chairs in the kitchen as this was the only place which was warm as the log burner in the kitchen was very efficient. We have stayed in villa's for the past 12 years and considering the price we paid, which is not cheap, we believe the price did not justify the cost. The owners provided us with good information before we booked the property but did not take care of the heating sufficiently enough to enjoy all of the facilities that we paid for. We have given the property a 3 star rating but considered giving a rating of 2. This property may be acceptable in the summer months but in early October was not at all suitable. In summary we were very disappointed and dissatisfied with the property and strongly urge the owners to make the necessary improvements or do not take peoples money in October.

Overall a fantastic holiday. The accommodation ticked all the boxes for us, communication was perfect from booking to our arrival. I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else should we visit Puglia again. The local farm shop is a dream for breakfast yogurt and local cheese, not forgetting the local wine too! Very happy memories, thank you.

Beautiful location and characterful property
We have had an amazing two weeks at Trullo Mandorleto. Lovely spacious accommodation ( we were a family of four with young adult children) and a very inviting pool. The covered area was much appreciated for relaxing in the shade. Friendly communication from owners and we found Hayley (from the management company) really helpful and easy to contact for information. Would highly recommend this property and also the stunning area and surrounding towns. Thank you!

Excellent standard of accommodation in beautiful area
This was our first time in Puglia and we really loved the area and the trullo. We travelled as family with 3 teenage boys. We were met and taken to the house which is necessary as it's down a very small road, a dirt track for last 200m. So small that you may wonder where on earth you are.... but you soon get your bearings - you realise you are only 5 mins from civilisation (2 mins from a Dairy selling delicious cheeses,). A car is a must as is the confidence to drive on the small Italian roads. The house is very spacious and tasteful. Kitchen well equipped, everything you could possibly need, everything in new condition and all matching. The main bedroom is large, Second bedroom also a good size, third bedroom probably best for kids. All beds very comfortable, good quality linen, good quality towels. Bathrooms very clean. Pool lovely - large, clean, loungers for all, nice shaded area, beautiful views. There many shrubs & beautiful olive trees surrounding the property but not lawns - you will understand why when you see the environment. There are roof terraces for lovely views for miles. There is good wifi signal through half the house and around the pool. There is also darts & other games. The surrounding towns are lovely. Cegile Messipica is just over 10 min drive, fabulous inexpensive restaurants and on Saturday night in particular lovely sit around for the square let the kids wander off with many Italian kids. You need to book most places for dinner. No real signs of tourism in the town which personally I think is a bonus. Ostuni and Cisternino also lovely a little more touristy but not overly so. Alberobello completely touristy but still worth a visit (go early in day) - we took a Segway tour with 'always puglia' it was excellent!! We took a bike tour with 'Madera' through olive groves near ostuni coast also highly recommended. The beaches near ostuni were nice (although better beaches further away) - use one of the beach clubs as the free beaches are littered. Polignano a mare also beautiful. I think the house & area will suit all except those with toddlers (unfenced deep pool & roof terraces). You are in the countryside so if you have issues with ants, wasps, geckos etc that may be a consideration. It gets very hot, the bedrooms do warm up a bit (there are fans) - trullo area stays very cool. Whole area gets nice breezes. Hosts provide detailed local info & lovely welcoming gift. Thank you very much - highly recommended

An excellent choice from all perspectives
Ceglie is one of the best choices when visiting Puglia; a beautiful town, easily navigated - full of interesting and enjoyable places to visit. The restaurants and eateries are a joy; great food and wine; great value.Negotiating the menu can be good fun with our bad Italian and their weak English - such negotiations gave us many, hilarious examples of international misunderstanding which made the holiday all the more enjoyable. The 'English' menu translations are worth a whole article in their own right. The antipasti are a joy and the confidence with which they are presented is wonderful - serving bean mash with 'turnip tops' illustrates the confidence (it is a wonderful dish and the greens are not 'turnip' tops! The trullo is equally a joy; it is very well appointed (as they say in travel mags!) - the kitchen/dining area is fabulous for family meals, chat and long lunches/dinners. The bedrooms and bathrooms are excellent (especially the showers which thunder out the water!). The sitting room, with its arches, corners and angles is a treat for reading (or snoring) in the afternoon. The grounds are beautiful, full of flowers, plants, and trees and are plenty big for a great sense of space. The night-time sky is a joy to review from the roof. The pool does what you would expect - provide a perfect lounging spot in which to catch the October sun after an invigorating swim. As you can hear, we (6) enjoyed the trullo hugely - it was everything we wanted it to be. The surrounding lane ways, farms, fields and wildlife add a lot (the burrata from the local farm is world class). This Trullo Mandorleto, Ceglie and surrounding towns does what it says on the tin - they deliver a great holiday as advertised (and this is a rarity in time of inflated advertising, especially in holiday locations). Only downside is that you cannot really walk to Ceglie for the evening's restaurant or bar (especially for the return journey!), so you need an agreed driver etc. - a very minor irritant. Overall, we had a great time!

Peaceful, comfortable and a haven in Puglia
We were given a marvellous welcome pack by the owners of this wonderful Trullo and so we had all the information we needed at our fingertips. It is beautifully furnished and has so many corners to sit outside and enjoy the olive trees or relax poolside. Close to the many stunning Puglian villages and towns like Cisternino and Alberobello and within striking distance of the sea. So there is the opportunity to relax at the Trullo or to marvel at wonderful sights . It made for an unforgettable holiday and we returned totally refreshed to UK. Thank you to the owners who have created such a haven.
