With British Airways and Easyjet now flying into Bari from Gatwick as well as the Ryanair flights from Stansted, Puglia is becoming more accessible. The region is renowned for its food, with many famous chefs having their roots in the South. Food is taken seriously here, but in the relaxed way of the South, and Carovigno and the surrounding towns offer many opportunities to sample the wonderful food and wine of the region, between relaxing in the sunshine and visiting some of the beautiful towns and villages within easy driving distance.
Staying in: The villa is perfectly located for a quiet holiday within easy reach of the town, which can be seen from the garden and the roof terrace. However, a car is essential.
2 covered terraces offer shade for eating and relaxing. The terrace at the front of the villa was used by the people working the land for eating their lunch, and the curved stone seating benches are still there. Small cushions are provided to make make the seats more comfortable. The side terrace is newly built with stone archways, and overlooks the swimming pool - the ideal place to watch the sunsets. The large sitting room has views through two double French doors to the terrace and the pool area. The roof terrace offers the perfect vantage to enjoy a chilled drink and enjoy the sunset. A small wooden table and two chairs are available for use on the roof terrace.
There is a very large selection of DVDs, from old favourites to new, and paperbacks, plus travel and information books and maps of the area. Also available Nintendo Wii with refundable security deposit. Enquire on booking.
Your surroundings: Part of the villa is well over 100 years old, and was originally built for use during olive harvest. It has been extended to the owners design, incorporating stelle volte stone ceilings in two rooms to echo the ceilings in the existing building and stone archways to the terrace. The area on which the villa stands is a protected zone with unusual traditional houses, each standing on approximately 2 acres of land. The villa is the only property which is inhabited on a regular basis at present, although two neighbouring houses are undergoing renovation by their owners. The lane on which the villa stands finally ends at a small nursery growing vegetables for local shops. Traffic is practically non existant.
If you enjoy a game of golf, the area offers the following courses:
San Domenico Golf Course at Savelletri di Fasano. Par 72 6220m.
Acaya Golf Club at Acaya, San Cataldo, Lecce.
Riva dei Tessali Golf Resort at Castellaneta. Par 72 5947m.
Metaponto Golf Club at Metaponto. Par 72 6284m
Olives and other produce: It is reported that 70% of the olive oil in Italy is produced in the Puglia region: if you like olive trees you will love Puglia. These magnificent trees are everywhere. Some of the trees at the villa are mere babies at over 450 years old. There is wonderful freshly grown produce everywhere. You will see locals selling from the boot of their car or the back of their van. Always negotiate - most will expect it. Use the big supermarkets, but once you know your way around try the local speciality shops for cold meats, cheeses, bread, fresh meat, freshly caught fish and freshly made pasta. The antipasti is a must, but be warned - there will be plenty of it.
To take full advantage of all that Puglia has to offer, you will need to adopt the lifestyle. Rise early, because all the shops other than the large supermarkets will close at 12.30 for a long lunch and reopen from 4.30pm. Restaurants stay open late all year round but close 1 day per week. Most small shops are closed on Sunday.

You can go home!
Well we are just back from our stay at this lovely villa and had a fabulous time! We had lived in Carovigno and San Vito in the early eighties for 6 years and thought things would have been a lot differetn but they really hadn't changed at all. We remembered everything as if we had never left and it was truly a "homecoming". The villa was great and had every convenience one could want. The seclusion made it a very relaxing holiday but we were only a couple minutes from Carovigno so could buzz in there to get supplies at a moment's notice. Vincenzo was awesome and I enjoyed brushing up on my limited Italian with him. He is truly a part of the villa and in speaking with him I could tell he still loves it. Chris and Norman met us upon our arrival and within 5 minutes we discovered we had a friend in common (actually a son of a friend) and they gave us his contact info (small world). The villa was well maintained and the kitchen had everything one could want to make just about anything. All appliences were modern and worked great. The pool was a blessing as it reached 35 degrees the first three days we were there. It was maintained very well by Vincenzo and was always ready for us. This has to be one of the best villas we've stayed at and considering we normally stay with James Villas I guess that says something.

Villa Mimosa
We stayed at Villa Mimosa from 3-10 June 2012, and had a wonderful time - one of our best holidays ever. The villa is extremely comfortable and well equipped with everything you could wish for, from plentiful kitchen equipment to books, DVDs and an ipod dock  - it feels like a real home from home. Everything was beautifully clean and well maintained, and the owners had provided us with detailed information about everything we needed to know. The gardener/caretaker Vincenzo came every day to check that all was well, and to maintain the pool and gardens. The pool is perfect - large and deep, with a diving board and lovely stone edges. The villa is in an extremely peaceful location, surrounded by olive trees - perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The gardens are lush and beautifully maintained. We were able to sit by the pool and watch butterflies, swallows or bats, depending on the time of day. There is plenty of space to sit in the sunshine, or in the shade of the lovely covered terrace, whichever you prefer. This was our first visit to Puglia, and there was more to see within easy driving distance than we could manage in a week - the beaches we went to were clean and undeveloped, backed only by sand dunes (although there are plenty of beach clubs if you prefer sunloungers and beach bars), and the local towns are magical, with an endless choice of restaurants, cafes and ice-cream shops. I  heartily recommend Villa Mimosa, and look forward to returning to Puglia in the future.

Maison Sympathique

Excellent Villa - peaceful and relaxing
Great communication from start to finish - the villa is out of the way down a track, however, just a short distance from the town of Carovigno (10mins in car) - you could walk it as well - the pool and outdoors are one of the best we have found on our travels - sun beds are exceptionally comfy and the outdoor shower is perfect when coming back from the beach - our favourite was the Blue Lido about 15mins drive - great choice of restaurants and Corinne gives you a really comprehensive booklet on things to do / see - really happy time spent relaxing here

beautiful villa in authentic Puglia!
We had a great holiday at this lovely villa with a large swimming pool in a beautiful unspoilt area of Puglia. The villa is surrounded by olive and fig trees and so homely and peaceful. We all enjoyed the fantastic large pool and diving board and we enjoyed a barbecue on one evening. The villa was very comfortable with air conditioning, TV and DVDs to keep the teenagers amused in the evening. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen, having learned how to make the local speciality pasta, orecchiette, at the fabulous Masseria Altemura where we also sampled some of the local wines. A car is essential, but enabled us to explore the area. We particularly liked the boat trip to the sea caves at Polignano e Mare, the amazing limestone caves in Castellana Grotte, the white-washed old town of Ostuni (try Dish Restaurant there!) and the beaches along the coast. Corinne couldn't have been more helpful and Vincenzo made sure everything was clean and in working order. Sadly our lack of Italian language was embarrassing as very few people speak English, but everyone was very accommodating with google translate! I would definitely recommend this villa as a comfortable base from which to explore a beautiful authentic area of Puglia.

Perfect Retreat in Puglian Countryside
As a family of 6, we spent a week in Villa Mimosa in June 2018. A week wasn't enough and we all wished we could have stayed longer! Everything was absolutely perfect - a very comfortable, spacious, fully equipped villa, sprawling outside area, and large pool. The villa is maintained and managed very well and Corinne was able to fulfil the couple of additional requirements we had without any fuss. We would absolutely recommend this property to those wishing to be in Puglia and feel that they are actually living there rather than just staying. As advertised, a car is a must as the property is located in a fairly remote area, yet within reach of the town easily by car. If we happen to return to the area in the future, we would definitely look to stay in this villa again.

Lovely villa set amongst olive trees with a show piece swimming pool
We've stayed in a number of villa's over the years and irrespective of destination we try to tick the same wish list. Private, not overlooked location. Spacious and air conditioned accommodation with on-suite bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. Beaches and attractive local towns within a short drive. Tranquil gardens are a bonus and most importantly a large pool with good outside areas for lounging and dining. Suffice to say we chose well and all our hopes were fulfilled. We had a wonder 10 night stay at Mimosa, Carovigno and in particular Ostuni are lovely places to visit and eat out, while the kids where rarely out of the fantastic pool. Communication with Corrina was great and their local friend Vincenzo was always on hand for any localised assistance and took great care of the pool and gardens early in the morning before we surfaced. We really liked our first experience of Puglia, the good value and delicious local food and wine, the countryside of endless ancient olive groves and the friendly locals make for a relaxing holiday choice.

Wonderful holiday in a beautiful villa
We spent 2 weeks at Villa Mimosa, end of June/beginning July (myself, husband and 2 teenage boys). We all loved it. It,s a truly beautiful house. it is very well maintained and in a beautiful country setting. To be honest when we first drove up the country lane I felt we would be absolutely miles from everywhere, but the town is less than 10 minutes away and it is 15 minutes to Santa Sabina which has several lovely little beaches, none of which are crowded and a lovely atmosphere at night. The boys, and us indeed, loved the 'street barbecue' food there. It is lovely to relax outside surrounded by local and visiting Italians enjoying a beer and fresh barbecued food. The villa has such a peaceful setting and is a perfect location from which to explore the surrounding area. It is beautifully maintained, very clean and very well equipped. Vincenzo came regularly not clean the pool and look after the garden and was very helpful. The pool is lovely with a great poolside space and a covered terrace beside it. A change of bed linen and towels at the end of week one was a treat. Vincenzo's sisters are lovely, friendly and efficient. We visited some of the surrounding towns including Alborobello, Cisternino and Ostuni. we also visited Lecce and while it was stunning during the day it was even more so at night and well worth going there in the evening, it's balsa cooler for walking around! We did visit other beaches but preferred not got to Santa Sabina. The water is clean and clear and there are several small beaches not choose from. There is a wonderful bakery there, great fresh home made snack food for the beach. This is one of the nicest villas we have stayed in, you can feel that it is more than a rental property. We had a great 2 weeks that just flew by all too fast. We would love to go back as there is so much more we have to see. We would certainly recommend this villa, and the area. 5 stars⛱ Michelle and Martin Ireland.

Great holiday villa
This property is a real home from home very well equipped in every way.The pool was great and was a very welcome relief from the scorching temperatures. If I was to be really picky the door to the first bedroom sticks a bit so makes it difficult to enter and exit without making a noise.Recycling is also a bit of a trial!! Carvigno itself has a lot more to offer than is first apparent my favourite restaurant was La Loggia but others enjoyed Mama Lenas and Cartina.,Evo in Alberobello was another good find.Could not have stayed much longer I would have been enormous!!!

An Oasis of Calm
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful three weeks at Villa Mimosa in Puglia. The villa was just perfect with everything you could possibly need and the pool is just fab many hours spent swimming and relaxing. The covered patio area is ideal for eating lazy evening bbq's and playing games afterwards. It really is a very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil setting just what is needed to recharge the batteries after a busy year at work. Puglia surprised us with it's beautiful old towns and villages, all within easy driving distance. We ate at lots of restaurants both in Carovigno and Ostuni and the food and wine are both excellent. The best thing about the area is the lack of tourists it seemed to be mainly Italians, hardly any Brits !!! Many days were just spent at the villa, reading, relaxing, swimming, sunbathing and sleeping. All in all a perfect holiday. A big thank you to Corinne and Barry for letting us share their lovely home and for making it so easy to book and also all the help and advice given.

One May week at Villa Mimosa
We spent a week at Villa Mimosa with our friends at the end of May 2015 and were enchanted with the whole atmosphere of the location. The villa was easy to find using the map coordinates provided and we were happy to find that Vincenzo, the local contact, was there to greet us and provide us with a detailed tour of the house to acquaint us with all the facilities. Villa Mimosa is very well equipped with all you could need for a comfortable holiday. The pool is larger than we expected and well-maintained, in keeping with the rest of the property and surrounding gardens. The bedrooms (we only used two) are spacious with clean en-suites and air-conditioning although we did not need to use this. The owner, Corinne, was very helpful throughout the booking process, before, during and after our stay and dealt with all our enquiries promptly and concisely. This was our first visit to Puglia and we very much enjoyed the surrounding towns and countryside. In particular, Ostuni, one of tne of the closest sites and Lecce, somewhat further away, are 'must-sees'. We did not actually go into the centre of Carovigno until our last day and we realised what a gem we nearly missed as you do not get a fair impression of the town from the roads in and out We would heartily recommend Villa Mimosa to any potential visitors.

A wonderful home away from home.
We travelled for a month through Italy and we rented four separate accommodations. Villa Mimosa was by far the most comfortable, well equipped, and cared for property. We had a wonderful time exploring the area and also relaxing by the beautiful pool. We would love to return some day. Thank you so much Corinne and Barrie for allowing us the privilege to stay at your home.

Eight Days at Villa Mimosa, Carovigno
We have spent a lovely eight days at Villa Mimosa. This delightful villa afforded us the opportunity, both to relax and see some of this charming corner of Italy's heel. The spacious villa was exceptionally well-equipped and provided us with all we required, both inside and out. The beautiful garden and terraces were ideal places for alfresco dining and relaxation. The property was spotlessly clean and extremely well-maintained. We found the pool a perfect complement to the strong Apulian sun, this near-daily refreshment being greatly enjoyed by all. Carovigno itself proved to be a very pleasant town. There is an almost organic quality to the architecture with each historical epoch adding a layer of its own. We spent a very pleasant breakfast of coffee and pastries at the White Cafe, just on the central Piazza. Although our ability to communicate smoothly with the local people was somewhat limited, we found the people of Carovigno, as everywhere else during our visit, helpful and kind. Further afield there are a number of places worth visiting. The beach at Tore Gauceto is lovely. There is good swimming to be had in the delightfully warm water while the golden white sand offers ample opportunity to sunbathe. We visited Cisternino, an enchanting town of captivating side-streets and alleyways. Locorotondo was seen by car as we made our way to Alborobello. We enjoyed seeing the trulli, but the town is quite full of tourists and the typical souvenir shops that cater to them. Although our time there was sadly limited, we thought very highly of Martina Franca. It had much more of a city 'feel' and the baroque architecture is delightful. As expected, good quality eating establishments are many and varied. We had pizza at Masseria N' Zeta and mounds of ice cream at a gelateria in Ostuni. La Cantina in Carovigno provided us with a seafood extravaganza. It was a lovely restaurant. We could not have asked more of the owners. Our final night was spent at Il Coppolorosso. This too was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Many thanks to Vincenzo, Giustina, Madeleina and Angelo who provided us with superb service. Finally, a big thank you to Corinne and Barrie for making their holiday home available to us and for going out of their way to ensure we had the best possible holiday. We shall remember this place fondly, and would like to return someday.

You won't go wrong here!
Excellent communication with villa owners Corinne and Barrie meant booking was easy and they were very helpful. On arrival at the beautiful villa we did have some communication issues with Vincenzo as our Italian or German wasn't quite up to the job! He tried to explain everything to us and left us to settle in. The villa has every amenity that you could want. The kitchen is well stocked and the welcome pack was a pleasant and welcome surprise. The fridge was big enough to stock all of our food and drink, which isn't always the case in previous villas we have stayed in. The main bedroom is a delight, with a beautiful vaulted ceiling (although I would personally have preferred a bit more light). The shower curtain in the en suite never stopped the floor getting drenched though. Our teens were happy with their bedroom also, but they did complain about a lack of hot water in their shower. It was no problem as there were plenty of showers both inside and outside the villa. The number games and DVDs on offer was exceptional and in our case well used when the weather wasn't quite what we had hoped for. The driveway, the beautiful grounds littered with fruit trees and the private and huge stunning pool provided us with and ideal retreat. If you want peace and quiet then this is the villa for you. The resident cat kept us entertained even though I did worry about her. She was treated to slap up meals every day during our stay and was certainly much fatter when we left! Carovigno was only a few minutes away and the gelato shops were our favourite. It also has a pleasant town square and a lovely 14th century castle. We did struggle to find the restaurants, but when we did they were delightful. The cost of dining out proved much cheaper than we had expected. We visited pretty Ostuni on a few occasions, Lecce blew us away, Alberobello is a must see, and even the smaller towns of Locorotondo and Cisternino were worth a visit. The modern beach town of San Sabina was nice for an evening stroll around the market after dinner, overlooking the sea. Puglia appears pretty much undiscovered by the Brits, which is no bad thing. It is worth visiting now before tourism takes control. Villa Mimosa is in a great location and has everything you could need for a successful holiday. My only reservation during our stay was some difficulties that we had with inability to communicate effectively with Vincenzo which left us out of pocket but thanks to Corrine for her patience.

Peaceful, well equipped villa with huge pool.
The villa is in a very quiet location. It is extremely well equipped, particularly the kitchen; there is more cooking equipment than in my kitchen at home! All of the 3 bedrooms are large and beautifully furnished, ideal for my husband and I and our 2 teenagers. Having 3 bathrooms was great! The villa is very clean and well cared for. I think that it is actually much nicer than it appears in the photos. The pool is huge, 3 times the sizes of pools we have had in the past. Again, it is much bigger than it looks. We found the villa itself very cool. We only needed the air conditioning on in the bedrooms for a couple of hours each night, even though the temperature was 39 degrees some days. The evenings are pleasantly cool. The area is very 'untouristy', which we liked. There are many interesting places to visit within an hours drive. There is a reasonably large supermarket 10 mins drive away. I found Corrinne really helpful and the information that she sent prior to our stay was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend the villa for a complete break from a hectic lifestyle!

A nice place to relax
Villa Mimosa is a lovely secluded villa, well positioned for exploring Puglia in particular Ostuni, Alberobello, Lecce and the coast. The villa provides everything you need, the rooms are large and the beds comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for enjoying meals at the villa if you do not want to drive. The provision of pool towels was appreciated flying Ryanair! The pool is lovely and our three year old grew in confidence with her swimming. The covered terrace is a perfect area for eating outside. The villa is surrounded by olive and fruit trees which is nice but it took a little while to get used to the bare earth surrounding most of the villa, but this is just a personal thing. Prior to arrival Corinne sent through a brochure with lots of information about the villa and area. Chris and Norman met us when we arrived and it was nice to see a friendly face when we bumped into them in the supermarket. Overall a nice villa to stay at with all of the facilities you need and good communication and information prior to arrival. The area to the south and west of Ostuni is more picturesque and where you will find more trullis however this is a good location to explore the rest of Puglia.

An unbeatable Holiday
Villa Mimosa is the best villa that we have ever stayed in! It is supremely well fitted out and I just can't fault any aspect. The villa is in a great location, secluded but close to Carovigno and plenty of places to visit for short or long visits which give you an instant love of Puglia. For the inexperienced or seasoned traveller, the friendly helpfulness of all involved is reassuring and helps to make for a very relaxing holiday. I could go on forever about the weather, villa, Puglia, food, beaches, etc but probably the best comment that I can make is that all of our family were united in our determination to return as soon as possible, but for a longer period!!

Fantastic stay at Villa Mimosa
We spend 2 weeks of our summervacation at Villa Mimosa. Beeing 2 adults and 2 teenagers. A fantastic house. Room for everybody, nice and cool inside and a fantastic wheather outside. The pool was frequently used - and has a perfect size for both swimming and playing. The service from both "the pool manager" Vinzenco and the "house keepers" Chris and Norman was absolutely top class. Once we found our way around we found the area very charming. So unlike what we have experienced in the northern part of Italy. Definitely local - and not many tourists. Which is nice! And very interesting to explore local life and shopping, as well af good restaurants. The house is placed almost without neighbours - which we really liked. Car is defintely needed.
